Free Listen: James Horner’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Soundtrack Posted: 07 Jul 2012 12:26 PM PDT The Amazing Spider-Man is the latest of the summer superhero blockbusters to storm the box office and has been doing extremely well since its theatrical opening on Tuesday: the Marc Webb-directed reboot of Marvel Comics' web-slinging crimefighter defied expectations and mixed critical and audience response (Read our own FamousMonster's review here) and posted a record Tuesday opening day gross of $35 million, beating the previous record-holder - Michael Bay's first Transformers movie, released exactly five years to the day of Amazing's release. James Horner, the Academy Award-winning composer who has brought his considerable musical chops to the soundtracks for films ranging from 1982's Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan to James Cameron's record-smashing epics Titanic and Avatar, was hired to provide the aural accompaniment for Spidey's return to the silver screen after a five-year absence. Previously the cinematic adventures of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's iconic superhero were scored, under the direction of Sam Raimi, by Danny Elfman and Christopher Young. AOL Music is currently streaming the film's soundtrack CD, which was released the same day as the movie by Sony Classical, for FREE at their website [...] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2012 10:59 AM PDT Hoax Hunters #1 Written by Michael Moreci & Steve Seeley Art by Axel Medellin Inks by John Lucas Cover by Tim Seeley Image Comics Release Date: July 4, 2012 Cover Price: $2.99 You all now me, whenever it come to horror I run screaming the other way. Basically, I've been described as Scooby-Doo on two legs with less hair. So, I went into Hoax Hunters #1 with cautious optimism. I REALLY liked issue #0, and thought, why not? If it gets gory, I can always stop reading it. Writers Michael Moreci and Steve Seeley have got something REALLY unique here. The basic premise is, a bunch of people investigate strange and odd occurrences, all the while filming it for their reality show, appropriately titled "Hoax Hunters." What I loved about this book is the character dynamics. You have the gang trying to figure out just what the hell the mystery is in a small town, and why everything's dying, but at the same time you get what's going on in their real lives. Look out, Moreci and Seeley! I can already picture someone swiping your premise. The reality show BEHIND the reality show is a great, fresh new concept, and it's going to be great to see how this plays out. They give us TWO stories every issue - one of the Hoax Hunters trying to find out what's really going on, and one where the reader is trying to find out what's really going on with the Hoax Hunters themselves. All combined, this makes for a very entertaining, engrossing comic that you're not going to want to put down! [...] |

With a mildly enjoyable storyline that focuses in on some new characters, this Star Wars comic is one some fans will be partial to, especially the younger readers among them. The Enemy Within follows the story of a newly formed platoon of Clone Troopers, rashly rushed together by Republic Commander Griebs Kishpaugh. Lead by Clone Sergeant Banks, new to "boots-on-the-ground" combat, the group deploy to the planet Oznek in an attempt to undermine secret Separatist campaigns there. As they arrive, their transport ship comes under crippling fire from battle droids near their drop zone area, causing their LAAT/i transport to crash.
