As a huge vampire geek I notice the undead and bloodthirsty seem to fall into three main categories within pop culture. There is the vamp with lots of deep feelings who sweats being us hard enough to eternally attend high school, or to get a soul so they can date humans, the hyper-sexualized type who makes us feel less dirty since we are merely humans under their superior thrall and therefore cannot be held accountable for our own actions, or the last and rarest variety: the monster in the night who believes the living are a delicious snack food or a means to an end. Dracula World Order strongly subscribes to the latter school of thought and while it expresses lofty ideas about the current state of political/economic affairs, manages to be a bloody good bit of gory fun as well [...]

Anyone who's a fan of Robert Kirkman's comic book The Walking Dead and the hit AMC series of the same name was given a jolt of excitement at the end of season 2 with the reveal of Michonne (being played by Danai Gurira) and the prison.

Last night on a special summer episode of The Talking Dead, season 3 of the show was previewed before AMC aired the pilot episode in black and white. [...]

Philip Seymour Hoffman

The cast for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire continues to grow and many of the casting rumors are being confirmed. We previously reported that Jena Malone has beat out Mia Wasikowska and Zoe Aggeliki for the role of Johanna Mason. During that time, Philip Seymour Hoffman was rumored to take the role of the new game maker Plutarch Heavensbee.

Well consider that rumor to be confirmed. Hoffman will indeed be playing the part of Heavensbee the new game maker hired for the Third Quarter Quell. [...]

How Charles Dickens’ ‘A Tale Of Two Cities’ Inspired Script For ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

The Dark Knight Rises

We are a little under two weeks away from the release of The Dark Knight Rises and needless to say, we are all very anxious about what we will see. But if you want to know how the story of the film came to be, all you have to do is grab a Charles Dickens' book.

This past weekend, the press junket for The Dark Knight Rises was held, and during an interview with Coming Soon, Christopher and Jonathan Nolan spoke about how Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities, not the Occupy Movement, was the inspiration for the script for The Dark Knight Rises [...]

GoD List Banner

Each and every week "Firework Fred" MK2Fac3 and "Firecracker Frank" Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn't? So, let's take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we'll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of July 4, 2012. Single issues and trades, they're all here.

Um, yeah, sorry about the delay, folks! We were just sitting over here drinking non-alcoholic beverages in celebration of freedom and such, so we got a little too distracted by the holiday to get this up in time. You forgive us, right? Sure you do. I mean, I'm sure that you might have gotten distracted by all the booms and crackering of fireworks too and missed picking up new comics, right? That's what I thought. Well, there's a decent amount of stuff that came out this week, but a lot of it is more new issues than new comics, you know what I mean? Not a lot of fresh pickings. Nonetheless, you should read on because there are new comics to love and behold. Which ones? Like I said, you'll need to read on for The GoD List [...]

Michael Fassbender To Star In and Co-Produce ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Adaptation

Posted: 09 Jul 2012 11:30 AM PDT

Assassin's Creed

At first, video game adaptations sound promising but sometimes they fail to deliver. So far Resident Evil is one of the few successful film franchises based on a video game series. Now Michael Fassbender would like to get into the video game adaptation business by turning Assassin's Creed into a film.

For those who don't know about Assassin's Creed, the game is primarily set in the past where history was most prevalent. The first two were set during the Crusades and Renaissance periods with a third – scheduled for release soon – set during the American Revolution. All revolve around a man named Desmond Miles who lives in the distant future where technology allows him to relive the moments of these assassins [...]

2012 San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Posters for The Hobbit and Pacific Rim

We are just mere days away from converging at the mecca of all things geek: the San Diego Comic-Con. And to tease some of the highly anticipated Hall H panels, Warner Brothers has released a few exclusive posters for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and Pacific Rim. Now a big title that's missing from this collection is Zack Snyder's Superman film Man of Steel, so hopefully we will get to see that one days before the opening of the Con. Check these posters out below.

First poster (via Bloody-Disgusting) is that of Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim. The film tells the story of giant robots versus giant monsters. We previously saw a tease of Idris Elba in a high-tech suit. But the poster puts an emphasis on the robots and shows just how large the mechanical beings are when compared to that of their human operators [...]

Remembering Original AC/DC Front Man Bon Scott On His Birthday

Posted: 09 Jul 2012 09:00 AM PDT

Bon Scott

Today would have marked the 66th birthday of Bon Scott, the original lead singer of the Australian hard rock group AC/DC. Scott, who was their front man during the first wave of the band's success, died of acute alcohol poisoning on February 19th, 1980, and was another of rock's true blue go for broke and take no prisoners individual, who relished and leapt full frontally into all the swirling decadence that came with his endeavor. With his gritty voice and attitude, his ballsy approach on the microphone, his charmingly sleazy demeanor, and dying young like so many of rock and roll's greats before him, Bon Scott remains a celebrated figure in the annals of hard rock history.

He was born Ronald Belford Scott in Scotland on July 9, 1946, before his family moved him from there to Australia when he was six. Having recently arrived from Bonnie, Scotland at that point when he went to school, he was christened with the nickname "Bon" and it stuck with him for the rest of his life [...]

The Walking Dead Video Game

Activision has announced a brand new video game based on AMC's hit TV series, The Walking Dead, which is being developed by Terminal Reality.

The project isn't related to the episodic point and click Walking Dead title by Telltale Games, who just released its second episode with the third looking at a mid-August arrival.

This new adaptation of the popular TV series (which is of course based on the Robert Kirkman comic of the same name) will be a first-person adventure game that will rely heavily on survival---not so dissimilar from the recent Dead Island [Our Review Here], sans the tropical locale---requiring you to ration your food, water, ammunition, and general supplies in order to survive. Oscar-Winning Screen Legend Ernest Borgnine Dies At 95

Ernest Borgnine

The past month has brought us the loss of many acting heavyweights, some of whom went unappreciated during their final years. Now comes the saddest loss in quite some time.

Ernest Borgnine, the avuncular and omnipresent acting legend with a film and television career spanning more than six decades, passed away on Sunday, July 8 at the age of 95. The cause of death was renal failure, or kidney failure, according a statement the actor's longtime spokesman Harry Flynn gave to the Associated Press. Borgnine died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles surrounded by his wife and children.

Born to Italian immigrant parents in Hamden, Connecticut, on January 24, 1917, Ermes Effron Borgnino spent most of his younger years in New Haven, Connecticut before joining the U.S. Navy in 1935. He served in the Navy for six years before being discharged, only to re-enlist in 1941 when America entered World War II. During his service Ernest received the Navy Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal with Fleet Clasp, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. In 2004 he was granted the honorary rank of Chief Petty Officer from the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy for his support of the Navy and naval families worldwide [...]
