Free Listen: Hans Zimmer’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Soundtrack Posted: 10 Jul 2012 10:00 AM PDT With less than two weeks to go before the long-awaited release of The Dark Knight Rises, the epic final chapter in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, the film's Hans Zimmer-composed score - due to be released by WaterTower Music next Tuesday - is now streaming in full online for free thanks to the good folks over at the UK movie magazine and site Empire. You can listen to the soundtrack here below. Sounds like Zimmer is bringing the sonic thunder once again with a fantastic score that features many callbacks to his collaborations with James Newton Howard on the scores for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight as well as his score for Nolan's previous film Inception. The most prevalent motif in the score is Zimmer's theme for the character of Bane (Tom Hardy), a symphony of brooding and ominous tones building to a climax of complete chaos. The track "The Fire Rises" at times recalls the "Mombaasa" cue from Inception and it's good to hear Zimmer and Newton's Batman Begins theme about 2.5 minutes into "Despair." [...] |
Remembering The Late Great Singer Ronnie James Dio On His Birthday Posted: 10 Jul 2012 09:00 AM PDT Today is the celebration of the birthday of the late Ronnie James Dio, the heavy metal and hard rock singer and songwriter who carved his own niche into those aforementioned genres to become a figure as beloved as Ozzy Osbourne (Black Sabbath) or Rob Halford (Judas Priest). But in many ways, Dio's sound, fan base, versatility, and flawless voice, which metaphorically could move mountains with its rich high and low registers, stands alone as arguably the greatest heavy metal front man of all time. He was born Ronald James Padavona on July 10th, 1942 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Italian parents. Music ran through his veins early on in his life, learning brass instruments first such as the trumpet and French horn. [...] |

Christopher Nolan Says He Will Not Produce ‘Justice League’ Or Reincarnated Batman Films Posted: 10 Jul 2012 07:00 AM PDT Christopher Nolan has changed the way we look at Batman now and forever. A more grounded approach gave audiences a more believable hero that can exist in the real world. Previously the director has said that The Dark Knight Rises will be his last film in the Batman trilogy. Now Nolan has gone on to say that he won't be producing any more Batman-related films or the Justice League movie. Entertainment Weekly asked Nolan if he was interested in at least producing future incarnations of Batman, to which Nolan replied no, and added, "We're finished with all we're doing with Batman. How Charles Dickens’ ‘A Tale Of Two Cities’ Inspired Script For ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Posted: 09 Jul 2012 02:39 PM PDT We are a little under two weeks away from the release of The Dark Knight Rises and needless to say, we are all very anxious about what we will see. But if you want to know how the story of the film came to be, all you have to do is grab a Charles Dickens' book.
