$5 MP3 Album Deal: ‘The Very Best Of The Doors’

Posted: 11 Aug 2012 04:48 PM PDT

The Doors

A huge compendium of the greatest hits, and stellar tracks by The Doors, is now available on one expansive collection in MP3 format from Amazon this month for only $5, called simply enough, The Very Best of the Doors.

The group started in Venice, California, in the mid 1960s and became one of the biggest groups of all time. Led by their magnetic, charismatic lead singer Jim Morrison, who pretty much became the archetype for all the sexed up, mysterious, and reckless rock and roll frontmen who followed, and coupled with the musical prances of the musicians in the band, who created an early gothic, dark, swirling hypnotic-laced and dripped in drama and theatre style of rock and roll, The Doors are still at the forefront in terms of the heavyweight rock ensembles past or present. The music itself, seems to get better with age, manifesting a timeless quality that still dazzles the ear. There are many tracks the layman and casual fan have digested for years on classic rock radio, "Break on Through," "Love Me Two Times," "Touch Me," "Riders on the Storm," and the number one smashes "Hello I Love You" and "Light My Fire," but there are also dig-deeper nuggets included here within its 39 track offering: "Love Street," "The Changeling," "Twentieth Century Fox," and "Tell All The People" plus plenty more. New remixes, a live track, and a curio or two round out this great, definitive collection. The Very Best of the Doors is a perfect start to eventually wind one down the road of the Doors' catalog to discover all that this legendary band has to offer.

The first album by the band, titled The Doors is also on sale for only $5 this month, while L.A. Woman is on sale through this weekend for only $2.99.

‘This Is 40′ Trailer: Apatow’s Heartfelt Look At Family Life

Posted: 11 Aug 2012 01:37 PM PDT

This Is 40 Header

There's a new trailer for the upcoming Judd Apatow comedy This is 40. The film is the sort of sequel to Knocked Up and will follow the characters Pete and Debbie (Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann, respectively) as they enter their 40s. Check out the trailer below.

The new trailer doesn't pack a comedic punch the way the first trailer did. Instead it pushes for the drama aspect of the film as it tries to convey the difficulties most parents and married couples experience when they are approaching their 40s. Trying to balance out a life with kids, a money grubbing father (Albert Brooks), and rekindling a relationship can't be easy. So I am anxious to see how Apatow is able to balance out the drama with comedy in the film. Plus I just wanted to see more of Pete and Debbie, as they were my favorite characters in Knocked Up [...]

True Blood #3 of the Where Were You? story arc is called "Bill's Story," but the real star for me is the refreshing unambiguously evil villain Remus. He is sans tortured soul and manages to have supernatural properties without being in love with Sookie, or at least he is not yet. Michael Mcmillian and Annie Nocenti tell us the story of how Bill Compton and Remus became acquainted in pre-revelation (when the vampires come out of the coffin) England. I love when they show Bill as a punk rocker on the show because in his modern incarnation as politician and somewhat inconsistent anti-hero he is nearly always uptight. We get a taste of that in flashbacks as well as Remus paging Lestat as a tattoed rock singer giving up vampire secrets in his lyrics. He also likes to eat innocent people and feels he is part of a superior race as a vampire. This makes him an easy target to rally against and the gang, which includes Sookie, Eric (begrudgingly of course), Jessica, Bill, etc., is starting to do just this that [...]

Keira Knightley Joins The Cast Of The ‘Jack Ryan’ Prequel

Keira Knightley Header

It wasn't too long ago that Keira Knightley, Evangeline Lilly, and Felicity Jones were all vying for the role of Jack Ryan's wife in the upcoming Jack Ryan reboot. Now director and star Kenneth Branagah and Paramount have made their choice and they are going with Keira Knightley. Though the actress has much more cinematic experience than any of the other two - which may or may not have factored into the decision - either of the two actress that weren't picked would have been excellent choices.

Knightley will play Jack Ryan's wife in the film. It has been reported that this role will require some involvement in the action sequences in the film, something that was never really seen from any of the other actresses who portrayed Jack Ryan's wife in the previous installments. Jack Ryan will be played by Chris Pine, who has been long attached to play the role [...]
