Posted: 20 Aug 2012 07:33 PM PDT There would be no hero without the love interest. Aside from saving the world from any sort of dire situation, the hero comes back home to the arms of their love. But that seems a bit difficult for Captain America, considering he's been under a very cold sleep for almost 70 years. So any hopes of reuniting with Peggy Carter would be near impossible. But as luck would have it, directors Anthony and Joe Russo hope to spark a new romance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. According to The New York Post, they have narrowed down their choices to three very capable actresses: Anna Kendrick, Felicity Jones, and Imogen Poots [...] |
Now Warner Brothers Passes On Stephen King’s ‘Dark Tower’ With Russell Crowe Posted: 20 Aug 2012 06:31 PM PDT Much like the gunslinger's from Stephen King's popular book series, The Dark Tower, the journey of a planned film and TV adaptation has been a long and difficult one. It's being reported that Warner Brothers has decided not to take on the property, which is being shopped around by Imagine Entertainment's Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, despite the fact that even Russell Crowe was interested in starring. This comes five months after word that a deal with Warner Brothers was very close. [...] |
‘The Hunger Games’ Director Gary Ross To Make Peter Pan Fantasy Next Posted: 20 Aug 2012 05:37 PM PDT If you ask any fans of (and any cast and crew) on The Hunger Games, they'd likely tell you they want director Gary Ross back for the sequel, Catching Fire. But Lionsgate had a strict timeframe in mind for the sequel and the two-part grand finale, Mockingjay, and Ross wasn't willing to rush things in order to meet the deadline. So off Ross went to find his next project, looking into many different options. But now the meticulous director has made a decision, and it looks like he'll be working for Walt Disney next. [...] |
Surprise! Female Version Of ‘The Expendables’ Could Head Into Production Posted: 20 Aug 2012 04:16 PM PDT The Expendables 2 proved that women could be just as tough as the guys carrying the big guns. Nan Yu may have been the beauty behind the testosterone group, but the recent success of the film has made a push for a female version of The Expendables to be made. Adi Shankar, producer of films like The Grey and Killing Them Softly, would like to see that happen. The producer has recently hired Dutch Southern to pen a script for the female edition of The Expendables. Variety reports that he would finance the film himself and that he's in talks with some major female action stars, past and present. Some of the most prominent members of the female action stars are Linda Hamilton, Siguourney Weaver, and Jamie Lee Curtis. All three were leading ladies in their respective James Cameron films. Then there is Lucy Lawless, who has appeared in Xena: Warrior Princess. Uma Thurman has proven her worth as Kiddo in Kill Bill. Milla Jovovich and Kate Beckinsale are probably the most recognizable female action stars of the newer generation [...] |
Posted: 20 Aug 2012 03:11 PM PDT One of the great live rock and roll albums, Live and Dangerous by the great Thin Lizzy, is now available on one sonically explosive MP3 from Amazon this month for only $5. (Browse all 1,000 albums on sale this month for only $5 each, as well as several albums on sale this week for only $2.99 each.) Originally recorded in London, Toronto, and Philadelphia during their 1977 tour, which was supporting their Bad Reputation album, and featuring the late, great Phil Lynott on bass and vocals, (whose birthday is today) Live and Dangerous showcases the band at an absolute peak. Thin Lizzy remains one of the most underrated heavy rock bands of all time, their unapologetic, fever pitch riffs, and pot boiling rockers influenced a huge generation of musicians in the band's wake, and they are running on all musical cylinders here on Live and Dangerous and then some. Great live versions of classic radio smashes like "Jailbreak," "The Rocker," "Warrior," and the hit songs "Dancing in the Moonlight" and especially the memorable 1970s zeitgeist cruncher "The Boys are Back in Town" get elevated to new musical stretches with these live renditions. Essential for any hard rock collection, as they wax ever so memorable in the cult film This is Spinal Tap and which can be applied to this album without question, "This One Goes To Eleven." [...] |

Jackson; Bruce Hornsby To Compose Posted: 20 Aug 2012 02:11 PM PDT Another big name is joining the cast of Spike Lee's American remake of the brilliant South Korean drama, Oldboy. Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine To Audience: ‘Obama Staged Aurora, Sikh Temple Shootings’ Posted: 20 Aug 2012 11:10 AM PDT During a recent Megadeth concert in Singapore, frontman Dave Mustaine went full tilt goo-goo for Satan when he asserted to a confused crowd that U.S. President Barack Obama staged the tragic shootings in both Aurora, Colorado and at The Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek. This, according to Mustaine, was so that the President could justify a ban on guns. In the video taken from the concert, which you can watch below, Mustaine expressly states that the President planned these murders. "Back in my country, my President is trying to pass a gun ban so he's staging all these murders like the Fast and Furious thing down at the border and Aurora, Colorado, and all the people who were killed there and now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple." Mustaine goes on to say that he doesn't know where he's going to live if "America keeps going the way it's going," stating the the country is "turning into Nazi America." The crowd appears to disagree with Mustaine judging from the tone of its roar, which included a few boos. One audience member can even be heard shouting, "Hey, we love America!" Mustaine's response to the crowd's reaction: "Be quiet." So let's dissect Mustaine's claims with a few facts, lest anyone out there get the idea that these remarks are anything other than completely deranged [...] |

Posted: 20 Aug 2012 09:19 AM PDT The Threat #1 Written by Mark Schmidt Art by Jordi Perez Estevez Letters by Mark Schmidt Cover by Tucker Doud, Phil Smith and Vince Chuter Stratum Comics Release Date: June, 2012 Cover Price: $2.99 Independent comics are all about passion and drive. And nowhere is this more evident than with Stratum Comics and their first comic The Threat #1. The fact that it is produced here in The Lone Star State only makes it that much cooler. These folks tried to help fund it through Kickstarter, though it unfortunately missed its goal. But the fact that they still managed to make this happen is a testament to their need to breathe life into their dream. This premier issue takes place in Houston, one of the few places that retained some sense of civilization in this future Earth. We start to get a sense of the division between the common people and the few people that control this city-state. Though not much of a story is laid out, we get to meet a lot of characters and learn a few tidbits about them. The main theme seems to revolve around those known as Virals. These Virals are enhanced humans, though we aren't sure exactly how this happened... at least not yet [...] |
