Posted: 08 Aug 2012 04:30 AM PDT

Jethro Tull The Very Best of Jethro Tull

As part of Amazon's monthly $5 MP3 album deals for August 2012, Jethro Tull's The Very Best of Jethro Tull is on sale for only $5. If you would like a physical copy of The Very Best of Jethro Tull, the CD is available for only $9.99.

Love 'em or not, you'd have to agree that there is no other band on earth that sounds like Jethro Tull. While the visual of Ian Anderson prancing around in tights playing his flute doesn't exactly scream 'pillar of masculinity,' the sound of that flute and Anderson's distinct voice are what really make that quintessential Tull sound so frakking awesome. The Very Best of Tull covers all the songs you know from classic rock radio, like "Aqualung," "Locomotive Breath," "Bungle in the Jungle," and "Thick as a Brick," plus 16 more kickass tracks. Go ahead: download The Very Best of Jethro Tull and prance around with your fierce air flute. Just remember to close the curtains first.

First Official Look At Daniel Day-Lewis As Abraham Lincoln In Steven Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln’

Posted: 07 Aug 2012 07:31 PM PDT

Daniel Day-Lewis As Lincoln

Up until now, we've seen nothing but leaked photos of Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln on (or off) the set of Steven Spielberg's Lincoln.

The biopic would not encompass the entire life of America's 16th president; instead it would follow the last four months of his life. Now we've got our first official photo of the actor as the president, minus the jeans and him eating lunch.

Check it out below. [...]

The True Story Of Bane Cut Out Of Final Edit Of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Posted: 07 Aug 2012 06:13 PM PDT

Bane

Audiences never knew how the Jonathan Crane became the Scarecrow or how the Joker really got those scars, and they will probably never know the true story behind Bane. But a recent interview reveals what could have been Bane's back story in The Dark Knight Rises. Check it out below.

Much like the previous Batman villains in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, there was no explanation as to who Bane was or how he came to be. Sure The Dark Knight Rises hints at it once, but it is so subtle and so late into the film, that when it does appear, there is just not enough time to process it. Time constraints and numerous plots prevented Nolan from truly fleshing out his story. Now, a new interview from costume designer Lindy Hemming hints at how Bane would have been introduced into the film properly [...]

Check That: Fox May Relinquish Daredevil To Keep Galactus & Silver Surfer

Posted: 07 Aug 2012 05:08 PM PDT

Daredevil Header

Earlier today we reported that Fox was negotiating a deal with Marvel Studios in order to keep the Daredevil property. The deal was that in order to keep Daredevil, Fox had to give Galactus and the Silver Surfer, two very important characters from the Fantastic Four, to Marvel Studios. Fox wouldn't be in this character situation had it not been for David Slade pulling away from bringing them a Daredevil movie into production before the October 10, 2012 deadline. So if this deal looks too good to be true, it's because it is.

Many reported the aforementioned news. Had the deal gone through as reported, it would have opened the doors wide open in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Avengers vs Galactus would have been just awesome to watch. Alas, the news was premature, as Deadline now says that Fox doesn't want to give up either Galactus or the Silver Surfer, and will let go of Daredevil in order to keep those characters [...]

Joss Whedon Will Return To Direct ‘The Avengers 2,’ Obviously

Joss Whedon

Over $1.4 billion banked at the worldwide box office. Like there was ever any doubt.

Get a load of this, True Believers! Back in May we reported that a follow-up to Marvel Studios' highest-grossing film The Avengers was in the early stages of development at the Walt Disney Company, according to company CEO Bob Iger. Now it's being reported that "Jazzy" Joss Whedon is returning to write and direct the oh-so-inevitable (and untitled) sequel to the mighty Marvel blockbuster. The news broke just recently during the Walt Disney Investors Conference Call.

As part of the deal, Whedon will also produce a new, as yet untitled series for ABC, which is owned by Disney. All that is known of the series is that it revolve around other characters from the Marvel Universe [...]

Williams would play the partner to Alex Murphy (played by Joel Kinnaman), the cop who's gunned down by a ruthless gang while on the job, and then turned into a cyborg super cop to help fight the out of control crime rate. Nancy Allen played the role of the partner to Murphy (Peter Weller) in the original movie. [...]

THQ Cancels Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘inSane’ Video Game Trilogy

Posted: 07 Aug 2012 02:01 PM PDT

inSANE Image

Remember that video game titled inSane being developed by Volition Studios along with the great Guillermo del Toro through THQ? Last we heard a year or so ago they had been developing it for about a year with still two to three more years to go, it was being built as a trilogy, and it was going to be a massive sandbox-style game with some truly terrifying beasties to encounter.

Well, as it turns out, THQ either wasn't impressed enough with what they were seeing, or didn't want to wait as long as they were waiting to get the game. It's been announced that the company has canceled pre-production on inSane, effectively reverting the rights back to del Toro. [...]

Debuting as an original digital graphic novel, After the Fire is being released in July as a print comic, and you should be VERY happy about that. For this review, I'm NOT going to get into the print vs digital dicsussion, but I do think the book will get a lot more exposure on the racks of comic book stores, and that's a very good thing, because it's one heck of a read!

Writer Tom Waltz, who's KILLING it with his awesome Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series from IDW right now, writes a fantastic story of supernatural revenge, good vs evil, and just all-around awesomeness. This is a comic for people who love comics, and for people who would NEVER read a comic. Seriously, if you're looking to get one of your friends into reading comics, THIS is the book that you'll want to give them. It's a truly unique comic, centering around a pair of cops who are hard-working, dedicated, upstanding officers (or so we think), who are the victims of a couple of corrupt officers in their department [...]

Check Out The First ‘Marvel Now!’ Iron Man Image

Iron Man #1

This Fall, Marvel Comics is setting a new path for its most popular heroes with the Marvel Now! initiative. The books in this series are meant as great ways for new and lapsed readers to jump on board the Marvel train. Current readers aren't left out as past events in the given franchises still play a role in the events of Marvel Now! For example, the events of AvX will definitely impact the new series Uncanny Avengers. That series will feature a team that is made up of both X-Men and Avengers who must work together after what happened in Avengers Vs X-Men.

Iron Man #1 will find Tony Stark dealing with one of his most powerful inventions, Extremis out in the wild and up for grabs to the highest bidder. The only way he can stop Extremis is to build new more powerful and innovative suits of armor. Writer Kieron Gillen and artist Greg Land are presenting this new story arc starting in November [...]

$5 MP3 Album Deal: Dio ‘Holy Diver’

Posted: 07 Aug 2012 11:00 AM PDT

Dio Holy Diver

As part of Amazon's monthly $5 MP3 album deal for August 2012, Dio's Holy Diver is on sale for only $5. If you would like a physical copy of Holy Diver, the CD is available for only $6.86.

Released nearly 30 years ago, it's still difficult to conceive that Holy Diver was Dio's solo debut because the sound is so tight, so accomplished, and so thoroughly the essence of 80's metal, that it felt like it had always been there - an instant classic. This could be attributed to the band's only consistent member, frontman Ronnie James Dio, who first honed his metal chops in Black Sabbath, Rainbow, and Elf. The hard-driving sounds and motivating message of fighting the darkness in our souls delivered in such Holy Diver fan favorites as "Stand Up and Shout," "Rainbow in the Dark," and, of course, the title song, "Holy Diver," are as timely in this polarizing world of today as they were back then, when all we feared was not having enough dough for both a tour book and a t-shirt. Download the MP3 of Holy Diver today and raise a fist in solidarity along with the man who brought so many of us together in the spirit of friendship and common ground.

Check Out This Cool Blue Poster For Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘The Master’

Posted: 07 Aug 2012 10:00 AM PDT

The Master Header

Ever since Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master received huge praise at a super special screening in Santa Monica this past weekend, the film has been gaining some serious momentum. Now with the film's debut at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) just a few weeks away, The Weinstein Co. has released a brand new poster and it exemplifies just how rare and prestigious this film will be. Above is just a glimpse of the poster, you can check out the full image below.

The poster features the principal cast: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, and Amy Adams standing side by side as seen through a kaleidoscope or a crystal of some kind. Whatever the point of view may be, the poster looks awesome. Usually posters try to convey some sort of tone or send a clear message as to what the film is about, but not this poster [...]

Interview: Author R.A. Salvatore On His New Book ‘Charon’s Claw: Neverwinter Saga, Book III’

Charon's Claw: Neverwinter Saga, Book III R.A. Salvatore

With the arrival today of the third book in the Neverwinter Saga, Charon's Claw, I got the chance to have the ever-popular author R.A. Salvatore answer a few questions. As you may know, he is one of my favorite authors and I never miss a chance to pick his brain regarding his novels and other works. I hope you find his responses as interesting as I did.

Note the spoiler near the end, however.

Geeks Of Doom: For long-time readers, how would you describe the shift in the way Drizzt acts in this series versus the way he was with the old Companions of the Hall? I felt it was a subtle movement maybe towards the average Drow persona of indifference (at times) and less of the do-gooder attitude we have all grown to know.

R.A. Salvatore: Drizzt is surrounded by cynicism, and maybe it's wearing off on him. Worse, given the losses he's suffered and the grief he's experiencing... well, couple all of that with a world that's grown darker and angrier and you have a formerly optimistic Drow who's wondering if his morale code is no more than a sick joke. He adhered to what was right and just, despite great personal sacrifice, and for what? That's the question he can't shake [...]

Fans of the canceled cult hit Arrested Development have been awaiting this day for a long, long time. Today, the show officially goes back into production on brand new episodes, which will be made available through Netflix instead of on your TVs.

Even better, it's being reported that each and every one of the show's original cast have entered into final negotiations to return whenever everything gets situation and actual filming is ready to begin. This includes Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Portia de Rossi, David Cross, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat, and Tony Hale. [...]
