Posted: 14 Sep 2012 05:30 PM PDT Whore Written by Jeffrey Kaufman Art by Marco Turini Colors by James Brown Letters by John Hunt Cover by Felix Serrano, Jeffrey Kaufman Zenescope Entertainment Release Date: September 12, 2012 Cover Price: $9.99 Don't be ashamed of your perversions. The title grabbed my attention, too. We're all nasties here. While I certainly encourage everyone to embrace their affinity for the filth, there's much more to Whore than its salacious title and eye-catching cover. Are there whores in this book? Yep. Are there any sex scenes? Tons. Is there nudity? Yeah, in an Austin Powers, conveniently-placed-objects-block-the-good-parts kind of way. So, if that's all you're looking for, then read no more and buy this comic. Everything else that's awesome about Whore is just gravy for you. Jacob Mars was a CIA operative who was good at two things: hooking up with chicks and killing people. Along the way, he amassed a monthly child support payment of $100,000. Luckily for Jacob, the United States government was thrilled to toss $200,000 of taxpayer's money into his bank account every month for his services. The party ends abruptly for the assassin when, out of nowhere, he is a victim of government downsizing. Jacob must now find a way to pay the bills in the private sector. Luckily for him, he's a hot commodity in the mercenary market and quickly finds work [...] |
‘The Walking Dead’ Star Norman Reedus Confirms ‘The Boondock Saints 3′ Posted: 14 Sep 2012 03:51 PM PDT As many of you know, it took a decade for director Troy Duffy to get his long-awaited sequel to the 1999 cult classic The Boondock Saints made. But, after much patience, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day did finally get made. And if you've seen it, you know that it made sure to leave an intriguing door open for a possible trilogy-making movie. While nothing has been made official yet, The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus has made sure to give fans hoping for said third movie a shiny bit of hope that they won't have to wait nearly as long for The Boondock Saints III, saying recently that the movie is indeed happening with fellow Saint Sean Patrick Flanery and Duffy both involved. Posted: 14 Sep 2012 03:30 PM PDT Boy Wonder Netflix Streaming DVD Directed by Michael Morrissey Starring Caleb Steinmeyer, Zulay Henao, James Russo, Bill Sage, Tracy Middendorf Inception Media Group Originally Released: August 12, 2010 As geeks, we've often posed the question: "What if someone really tried to do what Batman does?" The Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy affixed a gritty, yet epic realism to the concept of The Batman, and Kick-Ass gives us a look at a teenager having a shot at being a superhero... but neither is rooted in the darker nature of reality. Enter: Boy Wonder – in spite of its name, the indie film is essentially a vigilante revenge movie, but takes on the concept of a teenager taking on board vigilante justice, without costumes and without the resources of one Mr. Bruce Wayne of the 1%. Penned and directed by Michael Morrissey, Boy Wonder tells the story of Sean Donovan, a brooding teenager portrayed by Caleb Steinmeyer, who from all appearances is a quiet, isolate teenager striving to do well at school. Yet behind the daytime mask, Donovan carries the weight of being witness to the murder of his mother when he was a younger boy [...] |
Universal Plans For ‘Bourne’ & ‘Ted’ Sequels Posted: 14 Sep 2012 02:31 PM PDT 2012 was a pretty successful year for Universal. The Bourne Legacy was a legitimate hit at the box office and the Seth MacFarlane comedy Ted was a smashing success. And because of their success, Universal wants to see more from those two films. THR has learned that the studio is commissioning the development of sequels for both films. They also confirmed that Jeremy Renner would indeed be brought back to reprise Aaron Cross for a new Bourne movie, which could possibly lead up to that crossover with Jason Bourne, the film everyone is waiting for. Though that wasn't confirmed, NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke said that we can expect to see another Bourne film get developed as soon as Fast Six runs its theatrical course [...] |

Blu-ray Review: The Beatles ‘Yellow Submarine’ Posted: 14 Sep 2012 11:00 AM PDT Yellow Submarine Blu-ray Directed by George Dunning Starring The Beatles Release date: June 5, 2012 Yellow Submarine, the 1968 animated film starring The Beatles which almost singlehandedly changed the landscape of animation, has recently gotten a release on Blu-Ray and it is nothing short of absolutely incredible. The film, which was based on the 1966 number one hit by the quartet and also took its narrative cues from albums like Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Rubber Soul, and Revolver, is considered a landmark in animated cinema. Preceded by the very assembly line styles by way of Walt Disney's factory, Yellow Submarine presented hand-drawn cells and backgrounds in a very different and stunning manner. Utilizing pop art and psychedelic imagery, along with a panache and artistic confidence in which all conventions were splintered, the film has a look of color and style so vivid, it almost makes one forget about the story. That story consists of The Beatles, in their mustachioed period (save for Paul McCartney) being commissioned by an old salty sea captain, who is helming the Yellow Submarine, to help liberate the people of Pepperland, who were put in bondage by the "Blue Meanies." Their adventure has run-ins with wild, colorful, eclectic, and surreal characters along the way, all to the electrifying soundtrack of well known and new Beatles songs composed for the film. The Beatles themselves did not have much involvement in the production, save for the music, (even their voices for their animated counterparts were done by voice actors), although they do make a brief but memorable live-action appearance at the end of the film [...] |

James Cameron’s ‘Jurassic Park’ Would Have Been More Like ‘Aliens’; Thoughts On ‘Prometheus’ Posted: 14 Sep 2012 07:19 AM PDT Not every director has the same vision or style, and sometimes, a director feels that the movie in question would have been handled differently if he or she were the one directing. Such is the case with Jurassic Park. Recently Avatar director James Cameron spoke to the UK's Huffington Post, where he said his Jurassic Park would have been different from Steven Spielberg's. According to him, it would have been more like Aliens. The director also talked to Moviefone, where he gave some huge praise for Ridley Scott's Prometheus [...] |
