Check Out Kevin Tancharoen’s Pitch Reel For His Vision Of ‘The Hunger Games’

Hunger Games Pitch Reel Header

There's nothing entirely new about the idea of pitch reels or sizzle reels. Often times these tools are used by filmmakers to pitch their ideas to studio execs. Essentially the videos give some insight on what the hopeful director wants to accomplish. Joe Carnahan's pitch for Daredevil gave us the impression that he would of brought a gritty real world feel for The Man without Fear. Unfortunately, we may never be able to see Carnahan's take on Daredevil since Fox is choosing to let that property go.

These visual pitches are usually put together by a director to show studio execs, what he has planned for a certain film. Whether or not they get the job depends on how well the reel is received and how well the pitch is thrown. Now we are getting look at Kevin Tancharoen's pitch for The Hunger Games, and it looks a bit different from what Gary Ross has given us back in March.

Check it here out below [...]

Daniel Craig May Appear As James Bond At Least Two More Times

Skyfall

MGM'S financial snag may have put a minor delay in the number of James Bond movies Daniel Craig could have appeared in, but the actor doesn't see himself handing off the title of the world's greatest spy to anyone any time soon. With Skyfall set for release later in the Fall, there is word coming out that Craig would like to appear in at least two more Bond films, taking the number of times the actor has appeared as the character to a grand total of five.

MI6, who first reported on the news, did not reveal who their source was, so let's take this with a grain of salt. There is no confirmation on the number of films that Craig is signed on for. Normally the number would be three, since many studios are infatuated with trilogies [...]

Twilight Edward and Bella Image

For those who are unfamiliar with Bad Lip Reading, it's a very popular YouTube channel run by someone who chooses to remain anonymous. They take movies and music videos and political figures, and then replaces whatever they're saying or singing with their own new words, being careful to match the lips of whoever is speaking as accurately as possible. The results are often hilarious.

The latest video to be released goes after a favorite punching bag in the movie world, Twilight. [...]

Happy 69th Birthday To Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters

Posted: 06 Sep 2012 12:30 PM PDT

Roger Waters

Roger Waters, one of the founding members and chief components who greatly contributed to the mind-blowing success of British psychedelic/classic rock unit Pink Floyd, celebrates his 69th birthday today.

In a way, Waters stands alone as a musical architect. His lyrics to some of the most memorable and well-made rock records of all time, bass playing, and British proper nasal vocal inflections are some of the high watermark achievements in music. Approaching music first with a keen psychedelic edge during the fad of the genre during the late 1960s, and then cultivating those sounds with a dark, spacier edge which became the Floyd trademark, Waters has helped create a body of work that is not only successful, but also had the keen foresight to become dazzling in a critical sense as well. Floyd records have the luxury of not only selling in the millions, but also for being regarded and lauded as some of the most ultimate records ever produced [...]

Paul McGuigan In Negotiations To Replace Shawn Levy As Director Of ‘Frankenstein’

Posted: 06 Sep 2012 11:29 AM PDT

Paul McGuigan

While doing the pressers last year for his lighthearted family boxing drama Real Steel, Shawn Levy revealed that one of his next upcoming projects would be a revision of Frankenstein. Not much was heard since the announcement was made, but now we are learning that Levy is actually leaving the project, which could be helmed by Lucky Number Slevin director Paul McGuigan.

McGuigan is in talks with Fox to direct the project. At first Levy wanted to create a big-budget version of the classic horror film, which would involve motion-capture technology, but Fox wanted to have a low budget film. There has been no confirmation if that was the difference that made Levy leave the project, but we do know that McGuigan will still be using the script written by Chronicle director Max Landis [...]

‘Cloud Atlas’ Trailer: The Wachowskis’ Ambition Condensed Into 2 Minutes

Posted: 06 Sep 2012 09:00 AM PDT

Cloud Atlas Header

After watching the first trailer for Cloud Atlas for the first time, it was clear that this was going to be a very ambitious movie. In that trailer we saw actors playing multiple roles in six intersecting stories that span many generations from the Victorian era to a technologically sophisticated futuristic Korea.

Now, a much shorter more theatrically fitting trailer has appeared online. Check it out here below.

There is some new footage that has been included in this video, although it doesn't really hamper or spoil the movie since they are just quick glimpses. I actually think that the Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer are playing this one close to the vest and the first trailer they released is the real meat of the promotions, the rest they are holding off on until they release Cloud Atlas [...]
