Ivan Reitman To Start ‘Ghostbusters 3′ Production In Summer 2013 Posted: 18 Oct 2012 07:00 PM PDT At the time it looked like Ghostbusters 3 wasn't even going to happen. Developmental problems continually stalled the project, and the franchise's biggest and most important piece, Bill Murray, wasn't even interested, in reprising his role. But there was some news that lead us to believe that this project wasn't completely dead. Earlier this year Etan Cohen was brought in to rewrite the script. That was followed by Dan Aykroyd saying that filming would begin early next year. [...] |
WB Pits ‘The Justice League’ Against ‘The Avengers’ In Summer 2015 Posted: 18 Oct 2012 06:00 PM PDT Disney has scheduled The Avengers 2 to hit theaters May 2015, but they won't be the only ensemble superhero team saving the world. Warner Brothers feels confident that they will be able to bring in a Justice League movie within the next few years, and has scheduled the highly anticipated film for a Summer 2015 release. That's right, two superhero teams from opposing comic book companies battling it out to claim the right to be called the best superhero! Since the film is still very early in development - no director or cast has been announced - there isn't much to say about the Justice League movie. We do know that Gangster Squad scribe Will Beall is tapped to write the draft for the film. [...] |
Comic Review: Oreimo, Volume 1 Posted: 18 Oct 2012 05:00 PM PDT Oreimo, Volume 1 Written by Tsukasa Fushimi Art by Hiro Kanzaki Dark Horse Comics Release Date: September 5, 2012 Cover Price: $10.99 For over a decade I have held Sakura Diaries as the single most disturbing anime/manga that I have ever seen. That series followed a high school graduate who, while trying to get into college, falls in love with his underage cousin. Well, I'll take your Sakura Diaries and raise you an Oreimo. This is not, by the way, a good thing. Kyosuke is a 17-year-old high school student. His 14-year-old sister, Kirino, is the most popular girl in the most popular clique at her middle school. [...] |
Disney In Depth: Blu-ray Review: Pete’s Dragon Posted: 18 Oct 2012 04:03 PM PDT Pete's Dragon Blu-ray l Blu-ray/DVD Combo DIRECTOR: Don Chaffey STARRING: Helen Reddy, Jim Dale, Mickey Rooney, Red Buttons, Shelley Winters, Sean Marshall Walt Disney Home Video RELEASE DATE: October 16, 2012 Two hours represents a worthy portion of the day that could be used to engage in many activities. Cleaning the house. Raking a yard full of leaves. Painting a room. All of those chores seem much more entertaining than watching portions of Pete's Dragon, an inept entry in the Disney catalog. This musical-themed drama/comedy symbolizes why general audiences may have failed to connect with some of what the company produced during the 1970s. [...] |
Watch Now: PSY Meets Up With Hugh Jackman For Some Wolverine “Gangnam Style” Posted: 18 Oct 2012 03:03 PM PDT For those of you who are unaware, "Gangnam Style" is a song from Korean pop star PSY that has taken the internet by storm. The viral video is pretty difficult to describe, so if you still haven't seen it just bring up YouTube and look for the one with an absurd amount of views. Because of how popular the song and its video have become, PSY has become a star, and has been making appearances all over the place. Recently he was able to even visit the set of the upcoming sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, titled The Wolverine, where he met up with star Hugh Jackman. [...] |
Director Jon Chu Talks About His He-Man Movie ‘Masters Of The Universe’ Posted: 18 Oct 2012 02:00 PM PDT A new movie based on the popular Mattel toy He-Man has been in the works for more years than anyone who's been excited to see the movie cares to admit. For a number of reasons things just haven't worked out, whether it was budgetary issues, script/story problems, and so on. Last we heard, G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon Chu was in talks to be the next to take a swing at making a new He-Man movie, titled Masters of the Universe, a reality. Now Chu is talking about his excitement and plans for the movie, and you can read what he's saying below. [...] |
Comic Review: Scrooge and Santa Posted: 18 Oct 2012 01:00 PM PDT Scrooge and Santa Written by Matthew Wilson Pencils & Inks by Josh Kenfield Colors by Dan Smith & Josh Kenfield Letters by Jehoaddan Strain & Josh Kenfield Cover by Josh Kenfield Arcana Studios Release Date: January 1, 2011 Cover Price: $14.95 Scrooge and Santa is a delightful Christmas comic book that does everything that it sets out to do. It has charm, humor, and heart. Sometimes the story is a little bit confusing and lacking, but all in all, it's a great Christmas read. Matthew Wilson spins a Christmas yarn that is truly timeless. He updates the classic story, A Christmas Carol, but not in the usual way. Yes, there are all the elements of the Charles Dickens classic in there, but he also throws in some very unexpected and out place twists and turns. And, I'm happy to say, they turn out fantastic. $5 MP3 Album Deal: System Of A Down ‘Toxicity’ Posted: 18 Oct 2012 12:00 PM PDT As part of Amazon's monthly $5 MP3 album deal for October 2012, System of a Down's Toxicity is on sale for only $5. If you would like a physical copy of Toxicity, the CD is available for only $6.99. Toxicity is the second studio album from Armenian-by-way-of-L.A. prog-metal band System of a Down. The album was released a week before the terrorist attacks on 9/11 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart. Due to politically sensitive lyrics on the hit song "Chop Suey!" ("I don't think you trust in my self-righteous suicide"), the song was immediately taken off the airwaves, though it did earn the group a Grammy nomination. Other hits on this album include "Aeriels" and the title track "Toxicity." Browse all 100 albums on sale this month for only $5 each. [...] |

‘Noah’ Set Photos Of Russell Crowe In Costume; First Image Of Ark Released Posted: 18 Oct 2012 10:00 AM PDT We've already seen the first image of Russell Crowe as Noah in Darren Aronofsky's new movie version of the biblical tale, titled Noah. Now comes some new set photos of the actor in costume. Unlike that first image of Crowe, Noah doesn't have hair on his head in these set photos and he is also looking like quite the bad ass. Noah is said to have been 600 years old when the whole flood thing went down, but I surely wouldn't mess with him. [...] |

Posted: 18 Oct 2012 08:00 AM PDT True Blood #4 Created by Alan Ball Written by Michael McMillian and Ann Nocenti Art by Michael Gaydos Colors by Marcelo Maiolo Letters by Neil Uyetake Cover by Tim Bradstreet IDW Publishing Release Date: September 5, 2012 Cover Price: $3.99 This past season of HBO's True Blood was a rollicking good time in my opinion and even managed to say a thing or two about politics, albeit while scantily clad. Lucky for us Truebies, and hopefully for some new recruits, this comic series isn't just the next best thing; it is entirely its own thing. Almost like visiting an old friend who is constantly redecorating, but they use half naked mystical creature types instead of knick knacks…who wouldn't want to come over? While Michael McMillian and Annie Nocenti could easily rest on those laurels and still keep tons of fans, they are also inventive storytellers and the conclusion to the very revealing story arc Where Were You keeps the literary blood flowing with Alcide's Story. [...] |
