‘Iron Man 3′ Trailer: The Mandarin Doesn’t Believe In Heroism Posted: 23 Oct 2012 06:00 AM PDT So after the 18 second teaser and a slew of images involving broken helmets, passionate embraces, and bluetooths, we finally have our first look at the new trailer for Iron Man 3. Check out here below the first trailer for the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We are finally getting an answer to the question of what happens to our heroes after the events seen in this year's The Avengers. Apparently things will start off with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) literally hitting rock bottom. As we can see in the trailer, Stark has been deeply affected by the war against Loki and the Chutari, and he seeks to some how save the ones he loves by building some sort of new technology that allows him to consciously summon his armor. But that might not be enough to stop a new and powerful villain called The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley). [...] |
Group Of ‘Star Wars’ Fans Building Full-Size Millennium Falcon Posted: 22 Oct 2012 07:00 PM PDT Owning a real Millennium Falcon, the ship piloted by Han Solo in Star Wars, is not an option people have. Because of this, a group of friends who are Star Wars fanatics decided to take the one and only option that does exist: building their own full-size replica of the ship. Piece by piece and bit by bit, the friends have been building their own Falcon over the past handful of years. There's still many years of building ahead of them, but the ship is starting to take shape. [...] |

‘The Colbert Report’ Host Stephen Colbert To Make Cameo In Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit’ Posted: 22 Oct 2012 05:00 PM PDT In one of the more unexpected announcements, it's been revealed that Stephen Colbert, the host of Comedy Central's The Colbert Report, will have a cameo at some point in director Peter Jackson's upcoming trilogy adaptation of The Hobbit. Colbert is a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings and J.R.R. Tolkien's work as a whole, and he was even invited to the set in New Zealand to visit and check out 25 minutes from the movie. It appears this visit is what turned into the cameo appearance. [...] |
Movie Review: Paranormal Activity 4 Posted: 22 Oct 2012 04:00 PM PDT Paranormal Activity 4 Directed by Henry Joost, Ariel Schulman Written by Christopher Landon, Chad Feehan Starring Katie Featherston, Kathryn Newton, Matt Shively, Brady Allen, and Aiden Lovekamp Paramount Pictures Rated R | 88 Minutes Release Date: October 19, 2012 Things that go bump in the night. The primal unknown that can make anyone lose sleep. It's a simple concept that we can all relate to, which is why the original Paranormal Activity struck such a nerve. Audiences loved it, and it made over 12,500 times its budget in profit. So it's not surprising Paramount has been churning out sequels every year since. As with the previous films, Paranormal Activity 4 features "found footage" captured by the characters themselves. Each film as found put a unique spin on how the footage is captured, but the result is the same. This time, the audience is shown an amalgamation of footage captured from web cams, digital cameras, and, in a less-than-subtle piece of product placement, feedback from an XBOX Kinect setup. Unlike the previous films, however, this one offers no explanation for when or how the footage was found and put back together. This was the first sign that storytelling was not a high priority this time around [...] |

Posted: 22 Oct 2012 01:00 PM PDT Evil Ernie #1 Written by Jesse Blaze Snider Art by Jason Craig Colors by Marcio Menyz & Adriano Augusto Letters by Troy Peteri Covers by Tim Seeley, Adrian Syaf, Nick Bradshaw, Dan Brereton Dynamite Entertainment Release Date: October 10, 2012 Cover Price: $3.99 In 2010, Dynamite Entertainment acquired the rights to Evil Ernie from Chaos! Comics. That acquisition finally bears fruit as writer Jesse Blaze Snider, a long-time fan of Evil Ernie, takes the helm on this character reboot. Dynamite could not, however, nab the rights to Lady Death, who held a significant role in Evil Ernie's original storyline. Her absence from Evil Ernie #1's story alters Evil Ernie's origin and motivations, but the look, personality, and Smiley button of the undead psychopath remain. Evil Ernie #1 briefly covers Ernest Fairchild's traumatic childhood which directly leads into his demonic transformation. Ernest was born in 1993 during a bizarre car accident where his entire family was killed. His father, possessed by something, taunts his daughter and pregnant wife right before slamming the car into a light pole. [...] |
