The Evil Dead Header

There is a good chance that people will frown upon any remake of a classic or cult movie. However, as Bruce Campbell said in yesterday's teaser, he knows what you really want in The Evil Dead. The actor promised us that it will be bloody, it will be gory, and it will be nasty. If you watched the announcement trailer, you might have heard the faint overwhelming applause from those who saw a teaser at the The Evil Dead Panel at the New York Comic-Con, which would indicate that Campbell has delivered on his promise.

Now we got our first look at what all the commotion is really all about. Check out the first red-band trailer for The Evil Dead here below [...]

KISS #5 is a game changer. Seriously, folks. It takes the whole concept of KISS and turns it on its ear. Two words, kids: KISS GIRLS. That's right, you wanted hot girls, you GOT hot girls! Not to mention The Phantom of the Park!

Writer Chris Ryall takes everyone's "favorite" movie, KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park, and puts a WHOLE new spin on it. The basics are still there, like the evil Abner Devereaux and, of course, the amusement park. I can't tell you what a refreshing change of pace this is, and Ryall proves with this issue that the sky truly IS the limit when it comes to this comic. So far, it's been very enjoyable, going from different eras in time watching the group take on the henchmen of the evil Destroyer, but this issue he makes everything fresh and totally different. Don't get me wrong, we all love the group, but it's nice to get a total 180 once in awhile. This book is something that you're going to want to read at least a couple of times - it's that good - and you're going to make sure that you don't miss anything. Maybe it's my love of KISS or my love of KISS Meets The Phantom of the Park movie (c'mon, it was fun), but I honestly can't remember enjoying a comic this much in a long time. [...]

Horror Short Film Review: ‘The Earth Rejects Him’

The Earth Rejects Him

The Earth Rejects Him
Directed by Jared Skolnick
Written by Jared Skolnick
Starring Ellis Gage, Colin Allen and Jacob Moon
Dead Henchmen Productions
Released 2011

The Earth Rejects Him is a chilling short film written and directed by Jared Skolnick about a young boy who discovers a corpse while biking in the woods, "then faces unexpected and macabre consequences when he tries to bury it." Influenced by the films of Werner Herzog, Terrence Malick, and Guillermo del Toro and the short stories of H.P. Lovecraft, Skolnick shows us the sinister side of a sunny day in a lush forest when a young boy takes a tumble off his bike over a small cliff and lands in a tangle of fallen leaves.

When he comes to, the boy sees a skull and part of a skeleton half buried in the earth. He snags a tooth from the skull's mouth and hides it in his pocket. After he and his two friends swear to the police they haven't touched a thing, the boys quietly walk their bikes home. The boy shows the others the tooth he's taken and at their urging, buries it in a field [...]

Beacon Theatre: Live From New York

Beacon Theatre: Live From New York

Provogue Records

Albums with Black Country Communion, a duet with Beth Hart, a solo album, and inspired guest appearances with the likes of Lesley West and Derek Sherinian has seen majestically talented blues rock singer and guitarist Joe Bonamassa finally start to get the recognition he deserves. After over 12 years he has been slowly improving over his 14 solo albums and the last year or so has seen him in a rich vein of form.

During this time the king of modern blues rock recorded his fourth live album, Beacon Theatre: Live From New York on November 5, 2011. It's an impressive 2-disc set with some of Bonamassa's finest recent work including "When The Fire Hits The Sea," "Dust Bowl," "Blue And Evil," and striking covers of Gary Moore's "Midnight Blues" and Rory Gallagher's "Cradle Rock."
