Guillermo Del Toro Confirms He’s Still Working On ‘Frankenstein’ For Universal

Guillermo del Toro

When it was announced that Universal was planning to reboot The Mummy again, the consensus was that they shouldn't do it. It being too soon was one of the main reasons why the studio should hold off on rebooting the classic monster. But Universal has been on the retooling the stars of their creature features for a while. Sure The Wolfman didn't work out like they would have hoped it would, but The Mummy was so successful, why not reboot it?

But if there is one monster story that deserves to get a modern day retelling, it's Frankenstein. [...]

The Princess Bride Blu-ray Image

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the classic Rob Reiner fantasy film, The Princess Bride, as well as the new Blu-ray release, Reiner and cast members including Billy Crystal, Robin Wright, Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Carol Kane, Wallace Shawn, and Chris Sarandon reunited at the New York Film Festival recently.

William Goldman, the author behind the 1973 book of the same name and the screenplay adaptation of The Princess Bride, was also on hand at the reunion, and, according to him, he very much wants to write a sequel...but has no idea how to do so. [...]

‘Stoker’ International Trailer: Mia Wasikowska Loves Her Uncle, Ice Cream & Sniper Rifles

Posted: 04 Oct 2012 04:12 PM PDT

Stoker Header

We first got a glimpse of Oldboy director Park Chan-wook's Stoker a week ago. In it, the trailer was intent on selling Nicole Kidman playing a cold mother who is sending a threatening message to her daughter. As bone chilling as that speech was, the latter half of the trailer revealed that India (Mia Wasikowska) was no ordinary girl. Her quiet nature seemed to have got the attention of the uncle (Matthew Goode) she never knew. From there it spiraled into a psychological thriller that bares a resemblance to something Alfred Hitchcock would have directed. [...]

Disney In Depth: 8 Funny, Mishap-Themed Videos At Disney Destinations

Disney In Depth banner

The most magical kingdoms on Earth are unfortunately not spared from mistakes taking place. Though the Disney theme parks, resorts and ships are almost perfect in every way in how they operate, every now and then a blunder or error temporarily disrupts the magic.

In this edition of Disney In Depth, I'll provide some commentary on a variety of funny and regrettable videos found on YouTube that even make Goofy appear less clumsy. [...]

2013 Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees Named; Rush, Deep Purple Get First-Time Nods

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The nominations are in for the 2013 class of inductees for Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the mix of names and bands definitely runs the genre gamut for sure.

Finally, however, there is a nod for Canadian power trio Rush. The band has been much the source of controversy at the glass pyramid on Cleveland's waterfront, as many of its fans have seen the omission of the band in the Hall as unconscionable and out and out ridiculous. Although the band has been around for almost 40 years and the Hall almost 30, this is still the first acknowledgement for the group in any way, shape or form. The band, which is currently on their Clockwork Angels tour spanning America, is bigger than ever. It remains to be seen if they will make it (finally) into the oddly shaped edifice in Ohio [...]

A Good Day To Die Hard Header

Live Free or Die Hard may have been the swan song for the heavy actioner franchise, but consider A Good Day to Die Hard to be the commencement of a brand new beginning. The first teaser trailer for A Good Day to Die Hard, a.k.a. Die Hard 5, has arrived online, and to say that it is the most explosive entry in the Die Hard franchise would be a vast understatement.

Check out it out for yourself below. [...]

‘The Croods’ Trailer: One Cave Family’s Trip Of A Lifetime

The Croods Header

DreamWorks animation slate is pretty stacked for the next few years. One of their biggest projects for 2013 is the animated caveman family comedy, The Croods, featuring the voices of Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke, and Cloris Leachman. Quite a collection of talent for an animated film, and now we got our first look at the film. Check out the beautiful trailer for Chris Sanders (How to Train Your Dragon) and Kirk DeMicco's The Croods here below.

Now an oppressive patriarchal father who forbids his adventuring daughter from ever leaving the nest is nothing new. Scaring his younger children with stories of adventurers' deaths may be a bit dark for the younger audience, but all of that is overshadowed by the bright and colorful images and that sense of "seeing a new world" in this trailer. I especially like the the cloud and sunlight work seen in the earlier parts of this trailer. Its a bit strange to see Cage do some voice acting work, but I'm sure audiences will get used to it as the film progresses. The Croods opens in theaters on March 22nd, 2013. [...]

First Trailer For Shane Black’s ‘Iron Man 3′ Set To Debut Midnight October 23

Iron Man 3 Concept Art

FYI, a little film called Iron Man 3 is scheduled to hit theaters summer May 3, 2013. The Shane Black-directed film stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, James Badge Dale, Ashley Hamilton, and Rebecca Hall. The first film from Marvel Studios' Phase Two project is just another piece of the puzzle that will be The Avengers 2.

Now E! Online is reporting that the film has resumed production since Downey Jr. has recovered from his ankle injury. We've also learned that the injury did not delay the film in any way that would force Disney to push the release date back. The site also learned that the first trailer for Iron Man 3 debuts at 12:01 a.m. PST on October 23 [...]

Comic Review: 10th Muse: God War

Release Date: Available Now
Cover Price: $17.95

10th Muse: God War is a fun collection of 10th Muse stories in the God War saga. This will not change your life, win any Eisners, or change the way comics are made, but it will do one thing - entertain you.

Writers Darren Davis and Chad Redmann have crafted a story that's just plain fun from beginning to end. It doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not, and that's the best thing about it. The 10th Muse, herself a Wonder Woman-esque character, goes toe to toe with Zeus (among others) to try and claim the throne of Mount Olympus. No spoilers, but what follows is just good, clean, comic book action! From Isis to Zeus, all the gods are there and they are throwing down hardcore! From start to finish, this comic is super entertaining. It doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not, it's not preachy, it's not over the top serious, it's just a solid, fun story. Things don't get much more simpler than that. You can tell that Davis and Redmann had a fun time writing this story, as not only does it span quite a few issues, but they throw everything but the kitchen sink into the mix and, and I must admit, it all blends quite nicely into one cohesive story [...]

The Wizard of Oz Image

Are you one of the many who do not get why every single movie needs to be released in 3D these days? Well, saddle up friends---it's about to start getting worse.

Warner Brothers sent out a massive press release detailing some equally massive upcoming releases in celebration of their 90th anniversary, including a 100-movie DVD and 50-movie Blu-ray sets (but no 100-movie Blu-ray sets?!) with some of their best titles. You can see the full press release with a rundown of all the titles they'll feature at the source link below.

But more interestingly, WB also announced that they will be converting the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz to 3D. [...]
