Comic Review: The Bionic Man #14 Posted: 27 Nov 2012 06:08 PM PST Bionic Man #14 Written by Phil Hester & Aaron Gillespie Pencils by Ed Tadeo Colors by Thiago Ribeiro Letters by Simon Bowland Covers by Alex Ross & Ed Tadeo Dynamite Entertainment Release Date: November 21, 2012 Cover Price: $3.99 The Bionic Man #14 features Steve Austin and Bigfoot. Do I really need to say anything else? Phil Hester and Aaron Gillespie are REALLY turning things up a notch. For the first time, I'm getting the feeling that Steve Austin has a REAL personality and has a unique voice and character. And that voice and character is AWESOME!!! This issue is jam packed with goodness. You've got Steve Austin TEAMING UP with Bigfoot to take on a secret organization that builds robot Bigfoots. Yes, it's as awesome as it sounds. The only thing that bothered me is Steve's relationship with OSI and Oscar Goldman. Several characters state that Austin no longer works for OSI, yet he keeps going back there for repairs, missions, and other various things. But, that's just a tiny glitch in what is a fantastic story [...] |
Bryan Singer Confirms Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellen To Return For ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Posted: 27 Nov 2012 04:22 PM PST Though Fox's X-Men film franchise has gone through a few director and character changes, the films stayed within its own continuity. In X-Men: First Class, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender play younger versions of Professor X and Magneto. The film took a look at the relationship shared between Professor X and Magneto and how their differences would put them at different sides of a similar goal. With X-Men: Days of Future Past set to begin production next year, newly appointed director Bryan Singer is confirming the return of the two aforementioned actors, along with Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult (Jack The Giant Slayer). Not only that, but the director has sent out a few tweets confirming that two actors who are very familiar with the franchise will also be making a return, and I don't mean Hugh Jackman or Rebecca Romijn. Singer confirmed both Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart would come back to reprise their respective roles as Magneto and Professor X [...] |
Support This: ‘A Chess Player’ by Shea Sizemore Posted: 27 Nov 2012 02:54 PM PST What happens when the thing you love, the thing you are most passionate about, becomes all that you are? Director Shea Sizemore's A Chess Player aims to examine what happens when your dream consumes you, leaving only that dream. Sizemore's short film will span 50 years and follow Tony, a man who discovers his love for the game of Chess and builds his entire life on it, only to fall from its graces in surprising and tragic ways. Think Brooklyn Castle meets Fight Club: underground basement tournaments, cigarette smoke fills the air as bare lightbulbs hover above a shifting crowd of onlookers. The spectators watch with excitement, shouting and making bets, passing money as two people play against the clock and themselves. Sounds pretty bad-ass, right? Shea Sizemore needs YOUR help to make this short film a reality, however. With only 19 days remaining, Shea has raised $1,910 of his $7,500 goal on Kickstarter. But enough of me blabbering on, I'll let Shea tell you all about it [...] |

Rumor: Could Joseph Gordon-Levitt Play Batman In The ‘Justice League’ Movie? Posted: 27 Nov 2012 09:55 AM PST Yesterday, our magnificent man with the news eelyajekiM reported that next summer's Superman reboot Man of Steel may play a vital role in leading into the long-awaited 2015 release of Justice League. If that's the case, then Warner Bros. has decided to take a page from the Marvel Studios' playbook and use their solo superhero films to build up to the team-up epic, a formula that proved to be a surefire winner when you look at the grosses for The Avengers. Anyone who's been following the development and production of Man of Steel and its dovetailing with the release of The Avengers could have guessed by now that the new Superman, played by Henry Cavill, would naturally be leading the League when they make their big screen bow in three summers, around the same time The Avengers 2 hits movie screens. What wasn't so obvious was who the studio would pick to play Batman seeing as how the Christopher Nolan-directed Dark Knight trilogy has concluded and Christian Bale doesn't appear to be willing to be a team player in the Justice League since Nolan won't be involved [...] |
Remembering Guitarist Jimi Hendrix On What Would Have Been His 70th Birthday Posted: 27 Nov 2012 08:16 AM PST Today marks what would have been the 70th birthday of Jimi Hendrix, the pioneering guitar player who singlehandedly changed every conceivable facet, approach, and style that existed before he got his hands on the instrument, and once he did, he foraged a universe in which millions traveled to, in which, led by Hendrix, one could attempt to attack the guitar as he did with a frighteningly bold and original tackling to break every single convention that stood firmly lodged in place before him and inventing new ones for those to follow for now and forever. The electric guitar was mainly a still new instrument by the time Jimi Hendrix first picked it up and discovered what it could do and there were still musical rules and regulations being invented as it went along. Hendrix took those rules and regulations and put them through a metaphorical sifter, found the diamonds in the rubble, and then blues fried them on a skillet. The result is (still) some of the most electrified and stunningly dazzling rock and roll ever put to tape [...] |
$5 MP3 Album Deal: The Black Keys ‘Brothers’ Posted: 27 Nov 2012 06:29 AM PST As part of Amazon's monthly $5 MP3 album deals for November 2012, The Black Key's Brothers is on sale for only $5. If you would like a physical copy of Brothers, the CD is available for only $9.99. Recorded in a cinderblock building in the middle of Alabama and released in 2010, Brothers is the sixth studio album recorded by the dynamic duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney known as The Black Keys. The group's success can be attributed to their constant touring, licensing their music to several retailers and also because they're just that damned good. Their unique blend of rock, blues, funk, R & B, tricky beats and fuzzy optimism (yes, I can actually hear that last one) has mass appeal. The first single released from Brothers, "Tighten Up", peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 and held the number one position on the Alternative Songs chart for 10 weeks. This MP3 also comes with a digital booklet. So much awesome for only $5! Browse all 100 albums on sale this month for only $5 each [...] |
