Guillermo Del Toro’s Horror Video Game ‘inSane’ May Have Found A New Developer Posted: 29 Nov 2012 06:21 PM PST A new horror video game from the mind of the great Guillermo del Toro and inspired in some aspects by the works of H.P. Lovecraft is a video game that's going to excite people. As it turned out, however, THQ was not among those people. Unlike his massive R-rated H.P. Lovecraft project, At the Mountains of Madness, which still seeks a new home as he finishes work on his upcoming blockbuster, Pacific Rim, it appears that the video game, titled inSane, may already have a new home. Rumor For Your Thoughts: New Xbox 720 To Release In One Year Posted: 29 Nov 2012 05:00 PM PST Not only is this not the first time that we've heard rumors of Microsoft's next generation console follow-up to the Xbox 360, known only as the Xbox 720 or code name "Durango" at the moment, but it's not the first time we've heard about a possible 2013 holiday season release window. According to sources, Microsoft is planning to release their new console come this time next year, and the company is still trying to decide whether to announce it officially at the next E3 convention, or do their own special announcement event. ‘Iron Man 3′ Not As Dark As You May Think; Will Dig Into Tony’s Pysche & Features No Avengers Posted: 29 Nov 2012 04:00 PM PST The Avengers marked the end of Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and come next year a new story line will unravel with the character that started it all. Iron Man 3 is still 6 months away and we have already seen one massive trailer that just wowed audiences everywhere. Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) takes over as director and is setting a new tone for the film and will attempt to recapture the "lighting in a bottle" that we saw in the first Iron Man. This new tone in Iron Man 3 will most likely be a result of the events that occurred in The Avengers. After all it was Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) who made the "sacrifice play." But despite what you may have seen in the first trailer, Iron Man 3 may not be as dark as you might think. [...] |
Starz Pondering ‘Spartacus’ Spinoff Series Focusing On Julius Caesar Posted: 29 Nov 2012 02:30 PM PST The upcoming third season of Starz's hit sword and sandals drama, Spartacus, titled Spartacus: War of the Damned, will be the show's final season. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the company is ready to give up playing in that period of time just yet. It's being reported that Starz is kicking around the idea of doing a spinoff series that would center around none other than the Roman general Gaius Julius Caesar. [...] |
Comic Review: Double Jumpers #3 Posted: 29 Nov 2012 01:00 PM PST Double Jumpers #3 Written by Dave Dwonch Art by Bill Blankenship Action Lab Comics Release Date: October 31, 2012 Cover Price: $3.99 Double Jumpers #3 is the penultimate chapter of this series, and I really can't wait to see how this series ends. Not that I want it to end, it's just so good that I want to see how all the storylines are resolved. Like the previous two issues, this one is very entertaining, funny, and an all-around good read. Writer Dave Dwonch turns in another very entertaining issue here, it's on the level with the last two very funny issues. As much as the "fish out of water/body switching" story formula has been used, this series makes it as fresh as if it were the first time you were reading a story using that plot device. As the gang from our universe travels on to fulfill their quest to finish the game and get back home, the four game characters continue to reek havoc in Las Vegas. There's a lot of twists and turns in this issue, and it really throws the audience for a loop. I can't even imagine how this series is going to end, but I'm really looking forward to finding out [...] |
$5 MP3 Album Deal: Van Morrison ‘Astral Weeks’ Posted: 29 Nov 2012 12:00 PM PST Astral Weeks, by Van Morrison, and regarded by many as one of the top ten records of all time, is now available on MP3 format from Amazon this month for only $5.00. With its breathless stripped down emotional wallop, Astral Weeks, even though it's one of Van Morrison's earliest records, is still full of the injections of the painful, wretched brilliance that accompanied and solidified his later works. Astral Weeks remains a hauntingly beautiful record, like standing on a misty harbor in the early morning, as the quiet lift of the oceans waves sift back and forth like a hammock. Mixing sublime guitar and flute, electric bass, piquant vibraphone, and quiet haunting passages in each and every song, from the opening track -- which is the title track -- the unexpected rush of its power and strength hits one instantly. ‘Django Unchained’ Gets A New Trailer; Soundtrack Info Revealed Posted: 29 Nov 2012 11:30 AM PST Rabid movie geeks will be getting a nifty present this year when Django Unchained, the latest action epic from director Quentin Tarantino, opens on Christmas Day. Not much else is needed to sell people on this movie; if you are anything like me you will have already made plans to go see it on the 25th right after you enjoy Christmas dinner, exchanging presents, and the traditional drinking contest and arm wrestling match with your grandma Freida. Nonetheless, a new trailer is out today that's light on plot and heavy on action. Plus we have the track listing and ordering info for the Django Unchained soundtrack album. You can check out the trailer and the soundtrack info here below. [...] |
Disney In Depth: 20 ‘Aladdin’ Fun Facts You May Not Have Known Posted: 29 Nov 2012 10:00 AM PST Can you believe it has been 20 years since Aladdin first entered our lives? The film was an absolute sensation, garnering much critical and financial success. After two decades I thought it would be "soaring good fun" to review the influence of this brand in the Disney universe. This edition of Disney In Depth will highlight 20 fun facts about everything you ever wanted to know about Prince Ali and company. [...] |
$5 MP3 Album Deal: Neil Young ‘Harvest’ Posted: 29 Nov 2012 09:00 AM PST Harvest, by Neil Young, which still stands as one of America's great classic folky rock/electric country albums, is now available on MP3 format from Amazon this month for only $5.00. Subtle in its masterstrokes, Harvest finds Neil Young a bit more subdued in a positive sense, sort of a musical detoxing from the CSNY supernova and his reverbed up energetic prior releases such as Everyone Knows This Is Nowhere. By 1972 and Harvest, Young had become a cult figure put on the influential pedestal like a Bob Dylan or a John Lennon, and like those two aforementioned artists, Neil Young also had a rite of passage by way of his sheer, stark creativity and originality. He truly is and remains one of a kind, and the great music on Harvest just solidifies the obvious of Young's mammoth talents. [...] |
New Video For Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’ Posted: 29 Nov 2012 08:30 AM PST A new video for Guillermo del Toro's "giant freakin' monsters versus giant freakin' robots" movie, Pacific Rim, has been released online. The choppy and unstable video, which is part of the film's viral marketing campaign, shows news coverage of a monster attack on numerous locations, including the Golden Gate Bridge, leaving shocking amounts of destruction in its wake. You can check out the video by clicking on over to the other side. [...] |
Hugh Jackman In Talks To Return As Wolverine In ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Posted: 29 Nov 2012 07:00 AM PST Losing previous director Matthew Vaughn - possibly to Star Wars Episode VII - has not slowed down development on X-Men: Days of Future Past one bit. Shortly after Vaughn's departure Bryan Singer, a producer on the Vaughn-directed X-Men: First Class, signed on to direct his first X-Men film since 2003's X2. Then just yesterday Singer confirmed that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen would be re-entering the franchise as the older Professor X and his friend and nemesis Magneto. One of the remaining question marks surrounding the casting of Days of Future Past would be whether or not Hugh Jackman would also be joining the ever-growing ensemble cast. He's become the X-Men franchise's star player and good luck charm so it should come as no surprise to anyone that Jackman is now in negotiations to return as Wolverine. [...] |
