Blu-ray Review: Magical Mystery Tour Posted: 03 Nov 2012 12:00 PM PDT Magical Mystery Tour Blu-ray Directed by The Beatles Written by The Beatles Starring: Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr Victor Spinetti, Jessie Robins, Mal Evans Apple Corps Not Rated | 52 Minutes Release Date: October 9th Magical Mystery Tour, the colorfully wild mess of a film by The Beatles, has been released on Blu-ray and it's one of the few times in the bands illustrious and innovative career that the term "mixed bag" can be applied when summing up one of their projects. But suffice to say, Magical Mystery Tour, while an absolutely charming and irresistible piece of delectable eye candy to gaze upon, and even more so now with the spit and polish of the Blu-ray remastering, still ultimately remains nothing more than a curio of The Moptops at their psychedelic peaks, still in the cosmic high of their Sgt. Watch Now: Trailer For Animated Alien Comedy ‘Escape From Planet Earth’ Posted: 03 Nov 2012 11:00 AM PDT A trailer has been released for the upcoming animated comedy Escape from the Planet Earth, which will hit theaters February 13, 2013. The movie had some troubles making it to the big screen, with a lawsuit between The Weinstein Company and producer Brian Inerfield and director Tony Leech, who exited the movie in 2010. The movie is now listed as directed by Cal Brunker, who was a storyboard artist on Despicable Me. Voice cast includes Brendan Fraser, Jessica Alba, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jane Lynch, Paul Reubens, and Rob Corddry. You can see the trailer for Escape From Planet Earth below now. [...] |
Exclusive: First Look At Five Upcoming Covers From Dark Horse Comics Posted: 03 Nov 2012 09:00 AM PDT It's cover preview time again with a five spot of covers from our friends at Dark Horse comics. Here is an exclusive first look at the covers for five books that will be released in February and April. Out in February is the issue #2 of Francesco Francavilla's The Black Beetle (can't wait for this series to come out!) Then in April we've got The Creep by John Arcudi (B.P.R.D., The Mask) and Jonathan Case (Green River Killer) with a cover by Tonci Zonjic. Also in April are three volumes from Dark Horse's manga line; Bride of the Water God volume 13, Oh My Goddess! volume 44 (I can't believe this series has been going on for that long), and Gantz volume 27. ‘Mythbusters’ To Do ‘Breaking Bad’ Episode; Aaron Paul, Creator Vince Gilligan To Appear Posted: 03 Nov 2012 07:00 AM PDT A special episode of Mythbusters is on the way, in which the team with tackle multiple tests inspired by the hit AMC original series, Breaking Bad. Star Aaron Paul and show creator Vince Gilligan are expected to make an appearance in the episode, as well. The first test, handled by Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, with determine whether the scene in season 1 of Breaking Bad in which Paul's character ignores a warning from co-star Bryan Cranston's character to use a plastic container to dissolve a body in hydrofluoric acid.
