Blu-ray Review: Supernatural Season 1 Posted: 29 Jun 2010 05:17 AM PDT Supernatural Season 1 DVD | Blu-ray Created by: Eric Kripke Starring: Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles Warner Home Video Release Date: June 15, 2010 Almost everyone who will be purchasing this Blu-ray already knows what Supernatural is about because we are now waiting for a sixth season. Well if you don't know anything about Supernatural then you should definitely start here. A great description would be a mixture between Route 66, X-Files, and Charmed. It brings together all the best of these shows and leaves all the worst behind. It is a love letter to horror movies and family problems. There are two brothers named Dean Winchester, played by Jensen Ackles from Dark Angel, and Sam Winchester, played by Jared Padalecki from Gilmore Girls, who travel across the country fighting demons and monsters. In this first season we are introduced to them and to the world of Supernatural which is also a character in itself. I say this because where you would normally expect monsters and demons to be a certain way, they are not necessarily that way in this world. Vampires are not the same, werewolves are not the same, pretty much nothing works the way we have been trained by media to believe it does [...] |
Universal Studios’ New ‘King Kong 360 3-D’ Opens Today! Posted: 28 Jun 2010 09:57 PM PDT Since fire ravaged and destroyed much of the Universal Studios Hollywood lot, we've been covering their progress. One of the more exciting plans was to rebuild the King Kong attraction that debuted in 1986 and was badly damaged in the blaze. Universal brought in the director of 2005's King Kong, Peter Jackson, and they set out to make an amazing new attraction to their tour. Since then, we've heard much about the new ride, and it's been about as exciting sounding as anything else you could think of. And while it's called "360 3-D," it does have a lot more of a 4D feel to it, considering the movement and interaction involved. If you've been at all interested in checking out the new King Kong attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood, well...you're now in luck. The ride is making its debut TODAY! Click on over to check out a couple new images, and some making of videos for the the ride. [...] |
Watch Now: ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ Trailer Posted: 28 Jun 2010 04:42 PM PDT If you are like me you have been enjoying the world of Harry Potter for a good long time. It's hard to imagine a world where Harry and the gang don't yet exist. For me it was a little sad when I finished the final book, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, knowing that my journey with Harry had come to an end. So, it is with that same kind of sadness that I present you with the world premiere trailer for the movie adaptation of the final book, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, here below. Thankfully, the book is being split up into two movies, Part 1 and Part 2, which I think is the right move. The Deathly Hallows really felt like two separate books. Those of you that read it know what I'm talking about. I think it will be interesting to see that split. The trailer below features scenes from both movies, Part I which is will be released in November of 2010, and Part 2 in July of 2011. So go ahead check out the awesome sauce below then put on Chamber of Secrets and marvel at how young the actors all really were [...] |

‘Captain EO’ Will Return To Walt Disney World This Summer! Posted: 28 Jun 2010 02:42 PM PDT The 3D film attraction Captain EO will be returning to the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL, this Summer! Captain EO will return to Disney World's EPCOT park on July 2, 2010, and is scheduled to also open at Tokyo Disneyland on July 1. Captain EO was a popular 3D attraction at the Disney parks in the mid-1980s which starred Michael Jackson in the lead role. The 17-minute musical scifi-fantasy adventure, which was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and produced by George Lucas (the duo also co-wrote the film), made a highly successful return to Disneyland park in California in February of this year [...] |

Book Review: Firefly: Still Flying Posted: 28 Jun 2010 09:57 AM PDT Firefly Still Flying A Celebration of Joss Whedon's Acclaimed TV Series Paperback Joss Whedon Original stories by Ben Edlund, Jane Espenson, Brett Matthews, Jose Molina Titan Books Release date: May 25, 2010 Firefly is truly unique in the annals of television. Canceled after only a single season, Joss Whedon's science fiction-Western mash-up has enjoyed a cult following that rivals Star Trek and Doctor Who. Known as Browncoats (after the rebel force from the show), these true blue fans have kept the show's spirit alive by passionately devouring books, comic books, and even a full-length motion picture sequel Serenity. Firefly: Still Flying, much like the series itself, is a mash-up of two different genres. It is at the same time a collection of short fiction and a fan guide. Titan Books assembled a crack team of former show writers to submit short fiction, including "What holds us Down" by Jane Espenson; "Fun with Dick and Jane" by Ben Edlund, "Crystal" by Brett Matthews; and "Take the Sky" by Jose Molina. Separating these stories is a collection of interviews, production notes, storyboards, prop design specs, and cast and crew histories [...] |
MP3 Deal: Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Bark At The Moon’ Posted: 28 Jun 2010 06:23 AM PDT The MP3 album deal of the day over at Amazon today is Ozzy Osbourne's Bark At the Moon for only $3.99. This version of Bark At the Moon is the 2002 remaster, so it has some changes from the original recording, but if you don't already own this album or aren't familiar with it, this won't matter to you -- and for four bucks, I'd say it's worth it to get these awesome songs. Ok, $4 typically buys you four songs, so here's four tunes from the 10-song album that will make this purchase worth it: "Bark At The Moon," "You're No Different," "Rock 'n' Roll Rebel," "Waiting For Darkness" - bam! money well spent. But, take it from me, the whole album is great, trust me. The album, which was released in 1983, was Ozzy's third studio effort and the first Ozzy record to feature lead guitarist Jake E. Lee. Lee had big shoes to fill at the time, as he was stepping in for guitar god Randy Rhoads, who had been killed the year before in a plane crash while on tour for Ozzy's second album Diary Of A Madman. But seriously, folks, Jake E. Lee is an amazing guitarist and definitely shines on Bark At The Moon [...] |
