Trailer: ‘Family Guy’ Continues Its ‘Star Wars’ Spoofs With ‘Return Of The Jedi’

Posted: 18 Nov 2010 07:18 PM PST

Whether you love or hate Family Guy, you have to admit that their work spoofing Star Wars (with the blessing of a one George Lucas, of course) has been pretty fantastic thus far.

It's already been stated that they would not be doing the prequel movies of the mega-franchise, so all that's left to be done is release the third and final spoof of Return of the Jedi. The final installment is called Family Guy: It's A Trap!, and it will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 21. And to help get you excited, you can get your first look at the trailer right now!

Unlike the first two chapters of this epic animated parody, characters from all of creator Seth MacFarlane's shows will be used, including American Dad and The Cleveland Show. You'll catch a few of said characters making brief appearances throughout the trailer.

Use the Force to bring some tasty treats closer, then head on over to the other side to check out the trailer for Family Guy: It's A Trap! immediately! [...]

‘Paranormal Activity 3′ Officially On The Way; Release Date Set

Posted: 18 Nov 2010 05:40 PM PST

Just a quick note for those of you out there who love your found footage scares, yes, another installment in the Paranormal Activity story is on the way.

Original director and franchise producer, Oren Peli, has informed Dread Central that Paranormal Activity 3 is already well on its way, and that the movie will come to haunt your dreams on October 21, 2011. No indication yet on where the movie will pick up from or where it's heading story wise.

The first film in the soon-to-be trilogy only cost an unbelievable $15,000 and went on to bring in over $190 million worldwide. The sequel, which came out last month, had a bit of a drop, costing $3 million to make and brought back over $150 million worldwide -- still an incredibly significant turnaround, to say the least.

These numbers make it a zero-thought decision on whether or not to keep their little fear fest-that-could moving forward with a third movie. [...]

‘Rescue Me’ Star Denis Leary Joins Marc Webb’s ‘Spider-Man’ Reboot

Posted: 18 Nov 2010 04:16 PM PST

Here we have yet another interesting casting announcement. According to reports, stand-up comedian and Rescue Me star Denis Leary is currently working out the dirty details to finalize his joining the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man reboot.

Leary will be playing Captain George Stacy, police officer and father to Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) love interest Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). At the moment, it's still unclear how faithful to Marvel's comic book storylines the movie will be, but it's expected that Leary's character will have his fair share of interactions with Spider-Man.

Leary joins the steadily growing cast that already includes Garfield (The Social Network, Never Let Me Go), Stone (Zombieland, Superbad), Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill, The Replacements), who was recently confirmed to be playing the villainous Lizard, and Martin Sheen (Apocalypse Now, The Departed) as Parker's Uncle Ben. Sally Field has been said to be up for the role of Aunt May, but this is yet to be etched in stone. [...]

Blu-ray Review: V: The Complete First Season

V the series (2009) Blu-ray DVD

V: The Complete First Season
Blu-ray | DVD
(2009)
Starring Elizabeth Mitchell, Morris Chesnut, Joel Gretsch, Logan Huffman, Lourdes Benedicto, Laura Vandervoort, Morena Baccarin, Scott Wolf
Warner Bros Home Entertainment
Release date: November 2, 2010

I watched the majority of V as it aired, and honestly, a lot of what I saw didn't blow me away. I liked what I saw for the most part, but like many at the time, I was drawn in by Lost and my attention faded as V aired directly after. A friend of mine was a huge fan of V, and ultimately made me enjoy the great parts of the show. Finally getting to sit and watch the show on Blu-ray on its own, I was far more drawn in, and I was able to enjoy the series for what it is: a fantastic, thoughtful science fiction show that digs into modern day issues while still giving an intriguing story about rebels fighting an invasion.

Based on the cult hit miniseries from the 1980s, the basic premise of V is that several parts of Earth's skies are overcast by large spaceships as a group of alien Visitors led by Anna (Morena Baccarin) who promise "We are peace. Always." The atmosphere that is created when they are setting up the arrival of the Visitors so eerie and almost robotic. The tone of the show at this point is that the Visitors are not necessarily to be trusted, but with the help of broadcast journalist, Chad Decker (Scott Wolf), Anna and company are able to gain the trust of the majority of the population. The conspiracy theory portion of the show starts with Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) as she teams with a group of rebels that don't trust the group of aliens that have come to their planet [...]

Babycakes NYC

Babycakes NYC bakery has opened up a new location in Downtown Disney at Disney World Orlando!

Babycakes NYC is a specialty bakery with gluten-free and vegan options that are all-natural, organic, and free from common allergens, like wheat, gluten, dairy, casein, and eggs. Oh, and their desserts are amazingly delicious!

Babycakes NYC founder Erin McKenna announced the news yesterday on the shop's blog. McKenna said she was approached two years ago by restaurateur Larry Levy of Spiaggia to partner with him on a project to bring healthier food to Disney. Along with Babycakes NYC, comes Levy's other eateries Pollo Campero and Fresh Apeel. (Apparently, McDonald's got the old boot back in April, who knew? Buh-bye!)

Right now, the bakery at Downtown Disney does not have sign, but you can find them by going into the building marked Fresh Apeel; the bakery is in the right hand nook. Also, the phones aren't working there yet, so but you can email them at DTD@babycakesnyc.com to order birthday cakes, donuts, cookies, brownies, and cupcakes! [...]

First Impressions On The ‘Green Lantern’ Movie Trailer

Posted: 18 Nov 2010 07:57 AM PST

Green Lantern

The world got its first two-minute dose of emerald CGI this week with the debut of the full-length trailer of the upcoming Green Lantern movie, which stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern [Check out the trailer: Watch Now: Trailer For 'Green Lantern' Starring Ryan Reynolds Is Here].

After seeing this first trailer, I'm sufficiently moved to give you Geeks a piece of my Oan-powered mind. My ring is fully charged.

But first, two things:

First: I have been a DC fanboy for over 30 years and Green Lantern was always one of my favorite concepts and characters, right up there with the Legion of Super-Heroes and Superman himself. Seeing this footage, as good or as bad as it is, is a dream come true for me, so there will likely be some positive bias in this article no matter how hard I try. Fair warning.

Second: Of course there are spoilers in this post, so don't read if you don't want to lose the element of surprise [...]
