First Trailer For ‘Fast And The Furious 5′ Shows Up Online Posted: 14 Dec 2010 05:08 PM PST For those of you who still care about the Fast and the Furious franchise, there is a fifth movie on the way being called Fast Five, and now you can watch a trailer for the movie here and now if you so choose to. The movie brings together stars of previous chapters of the franchise including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris. Joining the cast is Dwayne Johnson as an intimidating cop on the heels of the elusive street racing group, who have plans of pulling off one more major job before disappearing forever. There is a strong feeling of overkill with this franchise going into a fifth adventure, though it is impressive that the stars of the movies have generally stuck around for more...despite whatever your personal feelings for these flicks are. And judging by this new trailer, anyone who has loved and stayed faithful to the movies is in for another major adrenaline-fueled thrill ride, while the rest of you will see more of the expected explosions, chases, and high-speed shenanigans. Jon Favreau Tells Marvel He Won’t Be Directing ‘Iron Man 3′ Posted: 14 Dec 2010 02:28 PM PST While many comic book movie fans have been excited to see where things might go in Iron Man 3, some potentially devastating news has now entered into the equation. Director Jon Favreau has informed Marvel Studios that, sadly, he will not be returning to helm the next installment. Favreau showed his skills with movies like Elf and Zathura, but really became a top-tier directing talent with Iron Man in 2008, and expanded upon that success with Iron Man 2 in 2010. The movies thrived at the box office, bringing in well over a billion dollars worldwide, making a third film all-but-guaranteed. The mystery to this news remains to be why exactly Favreau has chosen to walk away from the franchise. It's said that there have been many disputes between the director and Marvel as to both financial compensation and creative choices, and that one or both of these reasons could be primary factors in the shocking decision. Get Your First Look At Gameplay Footage From ‘Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’ Posted: 14 Dec 2010 01:04 PM PST Just a few days ago, the announcement trailer for Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception made its debut at the Spike TV Video Game Awards. The trailer was mostly cinematic, but did offer some very brief gameplay teases toward the end. Thankfully for we the fans, Naughty Dog, the game studio behind the immensely popular series that includes Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, isn't waiting around patiently to show more of their new game off. Co-presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra were guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon recently, and they brought with them some real, solid gameplay footage to let the host try out. We'll still have to wait a little longer to really see how the game will look overall due to the fact that this gameplay is set inside a burning building, but it's an intense burning building sequence and promises that the game will keep up the brilliance of the previous two installments. Click on over to the other side now to get your first look at gameplay footage from Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception! [...] |
68th Annual Golden Globe Award Nominations Released Posted: 14 Dec 2010 11:42 AM PST Oh yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is indeed that time of year again already. The nominations for the 68th annual Golden Globe awards have been revealed to the world in a press release from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The Globes have developed a reputation for glorifying the major stars and titles of Hollywood, and as you'll see (Alice in Wonderland? Huh?), this is still fairly accurate. Still, you'll surely find plenty to like about this year's nominees to go along with any quarrels. Be sure to click on over to the other side right away to take a look at the full list of nominees for this year's Golden Globe awards. The only thing really jumping out to me is the lack of True Grit. I've heard nothing but gushing praise for the movie, and the Coen brothers are perennial nominees of the various larger awards ceremonies. It will be interesting to see how these compare to the upcoming Academy Award nominees. Share your thoughts on the nominees and who you think might have been snubbed this year in the comments below! Mekhi Phifer Set As Lead On ‘Torchwood: The New World’ Posted: 14 Dec 2010 10:01 AM PST The Torchwood news continues to trickle onto the web, with the announcement that Mekhi Phifer from the series Lie To Me, will be joining the cast of Torchwood: The New World. He will be set as a lead character to act opposite John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness) and Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper) in the upcoming fourth series. Phifer will be playing a CIA agent named Rex Matheson, who Deadline points out is "a fast-tracked high-flyer with a lethal sense of humor who starts to feel his mortality when his life is put in danger." It is unclear at this point whether he is allied with Torchwood or otherwise. Torchwood: The New World is a joint venture between BBC and Starz USA that will see the series move out from its Cardiff, Wales, setting into a more international focus. Filming and production is said to include the UK, the United States, and Canada, under direction from showrunner Russell T. Davies [...] |
‘Doctor Who Experience’ Combines Exhibition With Interactive Adventure Posted: 14 Dec 2010 07:52 AM PST Doctor Who fans in the UK have an exciting treat heading their way, in the form of The Doctor Who Experience, a huge exhibition set at London's Olympia 2. The event is said to be an interactive journey through the history of Doctor Who, both as a look at the evolution of the television show since 1963, and also an in-universe look at the history of the Doctor and his TARDIS. But it's the interactive part of the experience that sounds intriguing. Basically, for about 90 minutes of the exhibition, you are one of the Doctor's companions following a scripted adventure that also features the visual effects and the creatures, and you even get to go inside the TARDIS. Matt Smith, the eleventh incarnation of the Doctor, has filmed special scenes for this part of the Doctor Who Experience. On the exhibition side of things, all of the original Doctor costumes will be on display, Tom Baker's TARDIS police box will be there, and there will be two additional TARDIS interior sets from the eras of Peter Davison (the fifth Doctor) and David Tennant (the tenth doctor) [...] |
