Model Cristina Garcia new PETA ad: "Practice Puppy Love: Spay or Neuter" Posted: 29 Dec 2010 09:02 PM PST Model Cristina Garcia joined PETA's awareness campaign to stop the stray dog overpopulation and encourages pet owners to spay and neuter their animals. Model Cristina Garcia, who stars in a brand-new ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia, knows the way to a puppy's heart: spaying and neutering. Appearing with Rover, a dog who was abandoned at the Philippine Animal Welfare Society's (PAWS) animal shelter, Garcia asks Filipinos to help solve the country's companion animal overpopulation problem by having their cats and dogs sterilized. Having a dog or cat spayed or neutered shows true love, and it can even be a matter of life and death. There are countless dogs and cats on the street, and an animal without a home is vulnerable to injury, abuse, starvation, disease, and an early death. "Although people may be reluctant to spay and neuter their animal companions, the fact is that sterilization is both the easiest and the most effective means available of ensuring animals' happiness and safety," says Garcia. "Consider the fate of the millions of unwanted animals who roam the streets of the Philippines whose parents were never spayed and neutered." "Born into a hostile world, unwanted animals are caged among strangers at animal shelters or, worse, abandoned on the sides of roads. They are run over by cars and attacked by other animals. They are infected with painful, contagious, and deadly diseases. Those unlucky enough to run into cruel humans are often drowned, beaten with baseball bats, suffocated in plastic bags, stabbed, shot, starved, set on fire, and tortured in countless other ways," Garcia continues. "And the saddest tragedy of all is that before they meet some gruesome death, they reproduce, and the cycle of animal suffering continues. The best way to save the lives of homeless animals is to reduce their numbers through spaying and neutering your companion animals. " Dogs who have not been spayed or neutered are much more likely to bite and display dominance and territorial or aggressive behavior than dogs who have been sterilized. "Many of us wish that we could take in all the animals who are waiting in animal shelters for a warm place of their own," says PETA Asia Director Jason Baker. "But the sad truth is that as long as people continue to let their dogs and cats breed—and as long as they keep buying animals from pet stores—many, many animals will face death at a young age." Rupert Everett described Jennifer Aniston's Career "Tasteless" Posted: 29 Dec 2010 08:08 PM PST Actor Rupert Everett is straight forward in telling that some actors are overrated and despite producing bad box office result, they still remain on the Hollywood A-list. Jennifer Aniston is his main example! During an interview with BBC Radio 4, Everett said (via USMag), "If you look and analyze the careers of many, many stars, you'll find that they're mostly sustained by the business. You'll find there's lots of women and lots of men in the business that the powers that be decide are right for their business, and they'll stand with them for quite a long time." Criticizing Jennifer Aniston's career. "OK, something will go wrong, like Jennifer Aniston will have one too many total flops, but she's still a member of that club. And she will still manage to…like a star forming in the universe, things will swirl around her and it will suddenly solidify into another vital tasteless rom-com, a little glitter next to the Crab Nebula." Everett's observation makes sense. . Some actors are just over paid despite failing to generate income for a film. Some people are much interested in their personal lives that their projects which keep them on the spotlight. [Photo courtesy by Ian Gavan/Getty Images] |

Brett Favre Fined $50K failure to cooperate in Jenn Sterger sexting investigation Posted: 29 Dec 2010 07:09 PM PST Many will surely say that Minnesota Vikings Brett Favre got off easy with his sexting scandal after the NFL punished him with $50,000 fine for his failure to cooperate with a league investigation. Former New York Jets employee Jenn Sterger accused Favre of sending graphic photos and inappropriate messages when she's still working at the Jets in 2008. NFL released a statement, "The forensic analysis could not establish that Favre sent the objectionable photographs to Sterger. The review found no evidence to contradict the statements of both Favre and Sterger that they never met in person, nor was there anything to suggest that Sterger engaged in any inappropriate conduct." Despite the league's failure to established Favre's violations in the league's personal conduct guidelines, Commissioner Goodell also "determined that Favre was not candid in several respects during the investigation." Jenn Sterger and her lawyer, Joseph R. Conway are definitely not satisfied and "extremely disappointed" with the outcome of the league's decision. Sterger's lawyer has released a statement, "While I am not privy to how Mr. Goodell reached such a finding, we strongly disagree with his conclusion that there was insufficient evidence to support a violation of the policy." "Our evidence and the personal testimony of Ms. Sterger clearly showed a pattern of lewd and offensive behavior by Mr. Favre that lasted all of the 2008 season." "Today's decision is an affront to all females and shows once again that, despite tough talk, the NFL remains the good old boys' league." $50,000 fine is really just a small amount. It will be more acceptable if they punished him with a game suspension (w/o pay). The NFL has been criticized for allowing the investigation to drag until the end of the season and now its credibility is in jeopardy with this ruling.
