Purse Organization with RFID Blocking Posted: 22 Jul 2011 04:52 PM PDT These purse organizers were originally designed to keep women’s purses organized and to make it simpler to change bags, but I don’t see any reason why guys couldn’t make use of them in gear bags, too. This Travelon RFID Blocking Purse Organizer has a woven metallic fabric sandwiched inside the walls to protect RFID cards [...] Source: http://the-gadgeteer.com/2011/07/22/purse-organization-with-rfid-blocking/ QUANTA COMPUTER RESEARCH IN MOTION ROGERS COMMUNICATIONS SAIC SATYAM COMPUTER SERVICES |
Windows 8 now available to OEMs via Microsoft Connect Posted: 22 Jul 2011 02:52 PM PDT Select Microsoft Connect partners — major players like HP — have been given their first taste of Windows 8. According to various sources, the build string currently sits at 7971.0.110324-1900, which is the third milestone build of the successor to Windows 7. So far, there haven’t been many details revealed about Windows 8. An actual System Restore — which is being referred to as History Vault — has been reported, and the feature will allow users and administrators to completely roll back a system to a previous state. A factory reset option is also said to be included. We’ve also seen Windows Live integration taking shape on the desktop. It’s believed that you’ll be able to log in to Windows 8 using your Windows Live credentials, not just a traditional offline Windows username and password. All that’s left now is for a leaked Windows 8 build to show up on a torrent site. Feel free to tip us if you see that happen. You can now rent Adobe Photoshop for $35 per month, CS 5.5 available soon Posted: 22 Jul 2011 12:52 PM PDT Rejoice! No longer will you have to fork over $700 for a Photoshop CS5 license! Adobe has unveiled a new subscription scheme where you can rent the entire Creative Suite, or individual packages, by the month, or for an entire year. Adobe Photoshop can be yours for $35 per month if you agree to rent it for 12 months, or $49 per month if you require its services for a shorter period. Dreamweaver can be had for even cheaper, at just $19 per month. The entire Master Collection is still rather expensive, though, at $125 per month. Today, Adobe also ushered in the release of Creative Suite 5.5, and simultaneously upped its release cycle from 18 months to 24 months. This means, if you rent Photoshop for two years, it’s actually the same cost as buying it outright. There’s no rent-to-own option, though — so you wouldn’t have access to the cheaper upgrade price once Creative Suite 6 rolls around next year. Still, if you need access to Photoshop, After Effects or Premiere for a one-time project, the new rental scheme could be exactly what you’re looking for. In other news, Adobe has announced that it will be launching three rather exciting iPad apps that work in conjunction with Photoshop: Eazel, Nav, and Color Lava. Eazel lets you five-finger paint on your iPad, and export the result into Photoshop; Nav acts as some kind of workspace, brush and menu extension, and the hopefully named Color Lava is a paint mixing palette. The apps are expected to appear in the App Store in the next 30 days. Android deals just got weird: free phones for pants, free flights for phones Posted: 22 Jul 2011 10:52 AM PDT Next time you’re trying on a pair of (non musical) jeans, why not snag a free Android phone to help fill their roomy pockets? And while you’re shopping for that big trip you’ve got planned, you can let “HTC Airlines” book that flight for you. Honest, it’s no trouble at all. Well, it’s a little trouble. Wet Seal’s “try on some pants and get a free phone” deal comes attached to a two-year contract, and those flights? Still free, but only if you happen to be picking up your HTC Status or Salsa in Germany. You didn’t expect them to offer a free ride to just anybody, anywhere, did you? Opera 11.10 gets HTML5 File API support, IMAP improvements Posted: 22 Jul 2011 08:52 AM PDT The crew in Oslo keeps plugging away at Opera 11.10, and the latest snapshot build includes a number of improvements to Opera’s built-in email client — as well as HTML5-related additions. On the IMAP front, Opera now supports special folders like sent items, spam, and trash. It also better handles duplicate items in Gmail — such as those which appear in all mail and under your custom labels. Opera 11.10 now partially supports the HTML5 File API as well, which means your favorite Web apps (like Gmail) may soon begin adding Opera to the list of supported browsers. You can download the latest Opera 11.10 snapshot for Windows, Mac, or Linux from the official release post. Update: The Opera 11.10 RC is now available, as pointed out by SlashZaku in the comments. Add playback hotkeys to Amazon Cloud Player with a Chrome extension Posted: 22 Jul 2011 06:52 AM PDT Sure, Amazon’s Cloud Player works — as long as you’re in the U.S. or willing to do some tinkering — but it’s fairly simplistic at the moment. There are plenty of features missing which we’d like to see added — but since Cloud Player is a Web app we don’t have to wait for Amazon! Google Chrome users, for example, can add playback hotkeys with an extension called keyMazony. Once installed, you’ll have keyboard control of your Amazon Cloud Player queue. keyMazony commands will work as long as you’re in the same Chrome window as Cloud Player, even if its tab doesn’t have focus. The key combinations are customizable as well — just make sure you don’t set up a combo that conflicts with another extension or Chrome’s built-in keyboard shortcuts.
