The Hobbit

In exactly 11 months from today, Peter Jackson's highly anticipated first installment of The Hobbit will arrive in theaters. Jackson has been releasing production video diaries; the first trailer, which introduces the dwarves, debuted last month, and we've gotten several stills from the film to satisfy our craving for more Hobbit

Now, Hero Complex was a new image from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey of Martin Freeman as the hobbit Bilbo Baggins -- and he's not just frolicking through the Shire like he was in the photo. No, this time, he down and dirty and wielding Sting, a long knife Bilbo is able to use as a sword that glows with a blue light when Orcs are near [...]

Some quarreling reports have made their way out into the world about the potential release window for James Cameron's sequel to the biggest movie ever made, Avatar.

Back in October of 2010 we found out that the plan appeared to be to shoot Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 back-to-back, and release them in the years 2014 and 2015, respectively. Now, according to sources, we might not even see the first sequel until the year 2016. [...]

Lionsgate Acquires Summit Entertainment; Hints At More ‘Twilight Saga’

The Twilight Saga

It was announced Friday that Lionsgate had completed an acquisition of Summit Entertainment for a grand total of $412.5 million. And while that sounds like a lot of coin, the purchase comes with a little franchise called The Twilight Saga, which has already inexplicably brought in over $2.5 BILLION in worldwide box office...as we can only look on, stunned, shaking our heads.

The one great thing (for said stunned head-shaking public, anyway) about The Twilight Saga was the fact that we knew that after they drew it out as long as possible and milked every penny they could out of their fans, it would be done and over with. Such a silly thing for us to hope for. [...]

Game of Thrones Season 2

It's incredible how painfully long the wait can be for a new season of a show that's so brain-explodingly, face-meltingly good that you want it to run non-stop all year long.

One of those shows (at least for a large number of fans) is HBO's Game of Thrones, which is of course based on author George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series. We knew it would be around springtime of 2012 that we would finally get our beloved fantasy series back, but now an official date has been set. [...]
