Summit Enhances ‘Twilight’ Experience With ‘The Twilight Saga’ Movie Marathon

Posted: 10 Sep 2012 07:00 PM PDT

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2

The finale of any long-running movie franchise feels so incomplete without having a studio run some sort of special movie marathon. Think of it as the penultimate event before you wave farewell to a beloved story, well that is until a studio reboots it. So like The Lord of the Rings, or The Avengers, The Twilight Saga is getting its very own movie marathon before the showing of the final chapter of the film franchise.

And like most movie marathons, this one will be shown one day before the official release of the final film. The Twilight Saga is made up of five films, which were adapted from four books. The fourth and final book was adapted into two parts [...]

Failure Of ‘John Carter’ Means ‘Finding Nemo 2′ Is Next For Andrew Stanton

Finding Nemo Image

Recently it was revealed that a sequel to this writer's personal favorite Disney*Pixar movie, Finding Nemo, was on the way with original director Andrew Stanton locked in to return to what's currently known simply as Finding Nemo 2, and Ellen Degeneres the first star to sign on for another trip into the Deep Blue.

Stanton recently stepped outside of the family of geniuses over at Pixar in order to make his live-action feature debut, John Carter, for Disney. The movie was considered by many to be a decent popcorn flick, but, for numerous reasons, it would become one of the biggest box office flops of all time, costing over $250 million and only making $73 million domestically ($282.7 million worldwide). Rumor For Your Thoughts: Could Viggo Mortensen Be Playing Dr. Strange In ‘Thor 2′?

Dr. Strange Image

Rumors are always fun. Sometimes they turn into something, sometimes they prove to be nothing at all. Today comes an intriguing little rumor (or rumors) involving the Marvel universe, but it's not one that's been created out of nowhere. This one might just have a bit of backing.

According to Roger Wardell, who's been sharing supposed insider Marvel bits via Twitter---many of which have turned out to be accurate or make plenty of sense---Marvel is in negotiations with Viggo Mortensen for an unspecified role in one of their "Phase 2" movies, which are the group of films that will lead to The Avengers 2. Colors by Michael Atiyeh
Letters by Michael Heisler

Dark Horse Comics
Release Date: August 29, 2012
Cover Price: $2.99

In Star Wars: Darth Maul - Death Sentence #2, we find the roles reversed and Darth Maul put into a situation where he actually has to HELP people instead of kill them. But, that doesn't mean he's any nicer about things.

Writer Tom Taylor gives up another chapter in the Clone Wars era of the Star Wars universe. Now, we've seen Darth Maul 'die' in The Phantom Menace, and we've seen him come back to life in the Clone Wars cartoon series, but beyond that, we don't know what truly happen to him, so this mini series is a bit of a mystery. Will he die for good this time? Will he survive and wander the galaxy while the "original" Star Wars films are going on? Who knows? [...]

Joss Whedon Says James Gunn’s Take On ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Will Be Twisted

Posted: 10 Sep 2012 01:56 PM PDT

Guardians of the Galaxy Image

It's all but confirmed that James Gunn (Slither and Super) will be directing Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. But if Gunn's previous two out of this world films aren't enough to convince you that he should direct a film about out of this world characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy, then The Avengers director Joss Whedon would like to share some reassuring thoughts to put some people's minds at ease.

Check out the full video interview from MTV here below.

MTV, which is covering the events at the Toronto International Film Festival, spoke to Whedon, who was there to push his latest film Much To Do About Nothing. There he said Gunn makes him think it will work. He explains that Gunn may be so off the wall and so crazy, but his intelligence is what allows him to have a grasp on the material and give it heart [...]

‘Avatar 4′ Could Be A Prequel; Update On James Cameron’s ‘Battle Angel’

Posted: 10 Sep 2012 12:42 PM PDT

Avatar

While Avatar 2 and 3 are currently in development, the fact that there is an Avatar 4 also on the schedule seems to be downright crazy. Earlier, producer Jon Landau cleared some things up by saying there were no plans to shoot a fourth Avatar film. But that could all change, depending on the success of the next two installments. And if they are successful, who's to say that Avatar 4 would be a direct follow up to the events of Avatar 3?

Well James Cameron spoke to MTV and said that he is exploring some ideas that would make Avatar 4 a prequel [...]

Comic Review: Good Samaritan #1

Good Samaritan #1

Good Samaritan #1
Story and Letters by Mike Luoma
Illustrations by Federico Guillen
Color by Ken Lateer
Earthbound Comics
Release Date: August 15, 2012
Cover Price: $3.99

I have watched first issues of comics sit on comic shop shelves for weeks on end without so much as a glance from potential patrons. It would be easy to label those comics as simply being bad comics. The logic behind that thinking is sound enough -- for decades we have been conditioned to believe that if a comic isn't selling then it must be lousy. Marvel and DC move the most units every Wednesday so they must produce the best books, right? As we all know by now, this is rarely the case. The first issue of a comic is typically purchased because of curiosity, promotion, and hype. What really makes a comic impressive is its capacity to make people want to purchase issues 2 and 3 afterwards. Good Samaritan #1 is not a poorly written or illustrated comic by any means. However, when it comes to reeling you in for that next issue, Good Samaritan #1 failed to perform for me [...]

David Slade May Direct Romantic Drama ‘Matched’ For Disney

Posted: 10 Sep 2012 10:00 AM PDT

David Slade is attached to directed Matched over at Disney

David Slade is now tapped to direct an adaptation of Ally Condie's young adult novel Matched over at Disney. Slade was attached to direct the new Daredevil reboot at one point in time, but had to leave because he was committed to directing the pilot for NBC's Hannibal. Now that he has completed his work on the pilot, the director is moving forward with this project, which is an interesting one for both Disney and Slade.

Love is the central focus of Condie's novel, where a young girl named Cassia lives in world where The Society makes every decision for you. She believes in this system, even believes the people she must love and mate with. That is, until she sees visions of a boy named Ky. She tells The Society about these visions, and they tell her it's nothing but a glitch. She refuses to accept that kind of answer. Now her whole world is turned upside down and she doesn't know what to believe [...]
