On not wearing makeup: "I don't care if there are a million pictures of me with no makeup. I love being able to walk down the street without it. We should promote women not having to wear makeup, or at least feel we can go out without it."

On comparing her style to Blair Waldorf's: "I've never seen Blair with the same bag, coat or shoes twice. I don't know anyone who had that. I had two pairs of jeans [when I was a teenager] that I rotated. I wouldn't trust myself with a Prada brag! I didn't even want to change for gym so I'd wear sweatpants over my jeans, then sweat around the track for an hour."

Body image: 'I wish I was stronger and more flexible. But I can always say, "I'd love my body if my legs were thinner, I'd love my hair if it were thicker." You can do things to change the way you look, but it's good to just say, "I love myself in this moment."… As soon as you stop getting pimples, you start getting wrinkles, so what's there to be upset about?'

Jessica Simpson appeared on TV for the first time since giving birth in May yesterday and she revealed a few numbers and facts about her pregnancy weight: she was 170 pounds at 6 months pregnant when she posed naked for Elle, she didn’t even walk while pregnant and she is proud of her weight loss so far (40 pounds) – here are some highlights from the interview:

On not losing the weight at birth:

"During pregnancy, I didn't really think about it," she told the talk show host of her expanding figure. I thought my doctors were telling me that it was just a lot of water and whenever my water broke my whole entire stomach would go down but that did not happen. All the weight did not come out with the baby!"

On her new lifestyle:

"You have to track every bit, and you can't get away with the bites because they add up. You have to be completely honest with yourself, and I think just creating that relationship of honesty with yourself is so good."

On criticism:

"I've been pregnant for three years! I definitely don't Google my name. I try to avoid it completely. But I still subconsciously know that the talk is going on so I think that every day that is a struggle for me. I understand that it sells magazines and stuff … but I wish I could get a cut!"

On not exercising:

“When I was pregnant I didn’t do any exercise like, I didn’t even walk around the block!

On her success so far:

“It's really not about the numbers. I've lost enough weight where I can pat myself on the back," she said, adding jokingly that the amount equaled "a small child!"
