Mary Jane Gets A Small Part ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ But Will Lead In Third Film

Shailene Woodley Header

Shailene Woodley has been confirmed for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The Descendants star was reportedly in negotiations a few weeks ago to play Mary Jane Watson in the highly anticipated sequel, but it's how her character will be utilized in the next movie that is turning some heads.

Almost every Spider-Man fan knows how Peter Parker went from his first love Gwen Stacy to his long-time love Mary Jane. So, while it would have been interesting to see a love triangle build in the sequel, Sony Pictures has different plans in store for the new webslinger. According to THR, Woodley would only have a small role in the sequel, which would expand in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 [...]

Halo 4

The first live-action trailer for the Halo franchise was such a success with audiences, the people over at Bungie thought they would do it all over again for the highly anticipated Halo 4. But the gaming studio didn't just get anyone to help out with the trailer, they got David Fincher to help produce the Tim Miller-directed trailer. For those not familiar with Miller's name, he is a visual effects artist whose work can be seen in the opening credits of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Check out the new live-action trailer for Halo 4 here below [...]

What rights to privacy can we expect when we choose to act anonymously/pseudonymously on the internet? Do they end at your public actions? Is it acceptable to violate the privacy of one class of user over another? Is it the purview of objective journalism to make that decision? The outing of Reddit's ViolentAcrez, "the Biggest Troll on the Web" by Gawker columnist Adrian Chen brings to light those questions and more this week.

But first, the headlines...Microsoft names launch dates and pricing for Windows 8 & Surface RT, Apple teases the possible announcement of the iPad Mini. Saturday Night Live mocks whiny tech bloggers [...]

Disney Holds Off ’20,000 Leagues Under The Sea’; David Fincher Courting Brad Pitt For Lead

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

Disney is still trying to recuperate from the massive financial loss of John Carter. Their live-action department has been less than stellar as of late, so it's really no surprise that they are holding off on making yet another expensive live-action film. Or maybe they are waiting to see what happens with The Lone Ranger before they start production for the remake of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.

The film, which will be directed by David Fincher, is currently being put on hold for now. Variety reports that during the three-month production pause, Andrew Kevin Walker will be making improvements to Steven Zallian's script [...]

‘The Wolverine’ Scribe Mark Bomback To Rewrite ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’

Posted: 19 Oct 2012 08:30 AM PDT

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

As luck would have it, Fox didn't need to make a mad scramble to find a director for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, after Rupert Wyatt exited because he felt he couldn't give the sequel the same quality as he did in the first film. Let Me In and Cloverfield director Matt Reeves was brought in to direct the film, which would be his first time directing a major summer tentpole flick.

But before Reeves can sit in the director's chair, Mark Bomback will be rewriting the draft that Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver penned. The script recently saw some revisions done by Contagion scribe Scott Burns [...]

Joe Keatinge's new Image Comics series Hell Yeah has been described as a sort of "Sequel to the 90s." That strange period in cape books when Superman could for-real-no-kidding die (just kidding), characters like Cable could pop-up out of nowhere to lead a teenage gang and it was every artists duty to top their last issue big issue with something bigger and weirder.

In contrast to many of today's comics, which are dedicated to examining and re-examining old characters and storytelling tropes - a.k.a. post- modernity, the 90s were about conjuring the new and unfamiliar, finding what's cool and sexy today (and, yes, I'm totally generalizing, get over it). [...]
