Trailer & Poster For M. Night Shyamalan Produced ‘Devil’ Released

Posted: 13 Jul 2010 10:11 PM PDT

The first trailer for Universal Pictures' Devil has been released online. The movie is brought to us by producer M. Night Shyamalan, whose current film The Last Airbender is making decent money while simultaneously being critically eviscerated.

While Shyamalan is a producer on the project, Devil is being directed by John Erick Dowdle. Dowdle has previously directed The Poughkeepsie Tapes and [REC] remake, Quarantine. The movie stars Chris Messina, Geoffrey Arend, Logan Marshall-Green, Bojana Novakovic, Jenny O'Hara, Bokeem Woodbine, and Jacob Vargas.

Click on over to the other side to check out the new trailer and teaser poster for Devil and decide for yourselves whether it looks worth a peek or not.

Not too much is known about the movie thus far. The current synopsis literally only says "Devil is a supernatural thriller with M. Night Shyamalan's signature touch." This may not be the best route to take, all things considered.

For some, it was post Signs. For a small group of others (myself included) it was after The Village. For an even smaller group, it may have been later than that. [...]

Just When You Thought It Couldn’t Get Worse: George Lopez To Voice ‘Speedy Gonzales’

Posted: 13 Jul 2010 08:37 PM PDT

This is fairly old news, but things have been a little slow lately, so why not.

While we impatiently wait for all of the MGM financial drama to be settled so that they (or someone) and New Line Cinema can deliver us The Hobbit, other movies are being set in motion to pass the time.

It's being reported that New Line has begun development on a brand new live-action/CGI hybrid adaptation of the popular Looney Tunes character Speedy Gonzales. The studio has hired writers Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen to pen the script. The duo started strong working on Toy Story but have since done titles like Cheaper by the Dozen, the Garfield movies, Evan Almighty, Daddy Day Camp, and the upcoming Walter the Farting Dog (I can't WAIT to see the trailer for that bad boy).

The movie already has its leading man as well. George Lopez will be voicing the uncatchable Speedy Gonzales. Lopez along with Ann Lopez and Lynnette Ramirez will also be producing under George Lopez Presents.

Ann Lopez had this to say about the new project, and modernizing the Speedy of the '50s who may or may not have sometimes been looked at as being a little racist. [...]

Free Read: ‘Inception’ Digital Comic Book Prequel

Posted: 13 Jul 2010 06:19 PM PDT

Inception is one of the most anticipated films of the year and Warner Bros. knows this. They've been pretty spectacular with their marketing campaign for the film so far, culminating in a new online 19-page comic book prequel entitled, Inception: The Cobol Job which can be found over at Yahoo Movies.

The Cobol Job is the story that leads to the opening of the film. If you read the comic on Yahoo there's a pretty cool reader that mimics the ComiXology reader, going panel by panel. There's also an option to download it as a PDF to read offline.

The story is written by Jordan Goldberg with art by Long Vo, Joe Ng, and Crystal Reid [...]

See A Movie Like You’ve Never Seen One Before; Rolling Roadshow Schedule Unveiled

Posted: 13 Jul 2010 02:01 PM PDT

One of the coolest movie events that you could take part in over the past handful of years is called the Rolling Roadshow. Netflix sponsored the event once upon a time, and now the famed Alamo Drafthouse has teamed up with Levi's to bring you the 2010 tour. You can see the newly unveiled schedule below!

The tour basically gives you the opportunity to go an see a movie at the place it was filmed or somewhere that relates greatly to the film. For example, previous shows have included Jaws being screened on the beaches of Martha's Vineyard where it was filmed, and Clerks in Red Bank, NJ near the Quick Stop the movie took place in.

This year's lineup has some very cool shows to check out...if you live nearby anyway. The one depressing thing about this is that it's all over the country and you probably won't get to see them all. Head on over to the other side to see the schedule now! [...]

Brian Cox Is The Latest Name To Join ‘Rise Of The Apes’

Posted: 13 Jul 2010 12:04 PM PDT

Well gosh darn it -- you want to think a movie is going to be terrible when you hear that said movie will be a Planet of the Apes prequel and that it will use CGI effects instead of the better-known costume and prosthetic effects. But despite all of the alarms going off in our heads about this project, every new casting announcement that comes along seems to add another level of intrigue.

It's now being reported by The Wrap that the great Brian Cox will be joining the cast of Rise of the Apes, the 20th Century Fox prequel that will take place long before the events seen in Planet of the Apes. Cox will be playing a role he can play to absolute perfection: the villain. He would be playing the owner of a multitude of primates used for testing in a lab that he tends to treat very poorly. This spells bad things for Mr. Cox. [...]

Spoiler Talk: Predators

Posted: 13 Jul 2010 10:11 AM PDT

This weekend saw the release of Predators, which is the second Predator sequel (not counting the two Alien vs. Predator movies), and comes 23 years after the release of the first Predator film, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Predators producer Robert Rodriguez (who also wrote early drafts of the screenplay) has stated that the new movie is a straight sequel to Predator, with no regard to the second film, 1990's Predator 2 starring Danny Glover (and like GoD staffer Vactor always asks, in what universe is Danny Clover an action hero?).

I loved the first Predator movie in all its 80s action-movie glory, and thankfully Predators does a fine job at bringing the Predator mythos to modern-day audiences.

Predators has several nods to its predecessor, but goes beyond being just 'more of the same.' The film sees a group of humans dropped one by one into a jungle area. None of them have any knowledge of how they got there or why they were brought there. Most of them are armed and understandable suspicious of one another. As they search the area for clues to unravel the mystery of their circumstance, they realize that they're actually on some kind of game preserve -- the problem is, they're the game! Hunting them are the Predators, an alien race of creatures who live for the hunt and make trophies of their kill. Now, the humans have to figure out a way to not only survive, but to escape!

If you've seen Predators, then it's time for some SPOILER TALK. Continue reading for my SPOILER-filled thoughts on the movie, and feel free to leave your thoughts in the Comments section [...]
