‘Juno’ Star Olivia Thirlby Joins The Cast Of ‘Judge Dredd’

Posted: 04 Sep 2010 11:05 AM PDT

A new actor has joined the cast of Judge Dredd, the new adaptation of the original UK comic that has nothing to do with the cheesy 1995 movie. It's being reported that Olivia Thirlby has signed on and will play Cassandra Anderson, a rookie with telepathic abilities who will work with the Judge.

We recently found out that Lord of the Rings and Star Trek star Karl Urban would be playing the title role after many rumors had pinned him to the role (Read: 'Lord Of The Rings' Star Karl Urban Confirmed As The New 'Judge Dredd'). We've also learned that the new Judge Dredd will be directed by Pete Travis (Vantage Point, Endgame) and production will begin in Johannesburg, South Africa later this year.

The new Judge Dredd looks to get back to the gritty roots of the original mythology, promising a realistic and hard-R-rated new offering that should make fans of the comics and haters of the '95 film excited to see what they come up with. [...]

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson To Replace Brendan Fraser In ‘Journey To The Center Of The Earth’ Sequel

Posted: 04 Sep 2010 09:29 AM PDT

2008's Journey to the Center of the Earth was one of the first to fuel the building 3D firestorm, and went on to pull in $241.9 million to its $60 million budget. Since then, a sequel, now titled Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, has been always planned, and things are starting to get moving forward...without previous star Brendan Fraser.

Johnson will play the boyfriend of returning star Josh Hutcherson's mother in the movie, who joins Hutcherson on an expedition to a wondrous island to try and find his missing grandfather.

The Mysterious Island will be directed by Brad Peyton, who has previously helmed Cats & Dogs 2: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. The original movie was directed by Eric Brevig, who is currently in post production on Yogi Bear and was nominated for a couple of special effects Oscars. [...]

Dragon*Con 2010: Watch Now: What Not To Do At The Con

There are certain things people should just avoid doing at a convention, like not showering, invading personal space of others, and publicly wearing a fury costume. Since the anal retentive geeks in attendance usually choose to ignore any rule that isn't explicitly stated, it can very well ruin the experience for everyone.

The guys from Dragon*Con TV, who also produced the "Vaderex" parody we reported on last week [READ: Watch Now: 'Vaderex' Is A Prescription Drug Proven To Reduce Dark Side Flare-Ups In Jedi], decided to make a public service announcement at Dragon*Con to target just those types of geeks.

Think of it as sort of a "Best Practices" or Con Etiquette for the masses.

The video is playing in between panels and addresses religious conversations, personal hygiene, inappropriate random sounds, Robots, Zombies, and much more...

Check out the video embedded below and share with friends who'll be at a convention in the near future [...]
