Posted: 15 Sep 2010 07:01 PM PDT

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for The Tourist, which features mega-stars Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie.

The movie tells the story of a man named Frank (Depp), who while on a getaway to Italy to escape his life meets a stunning woman named Elise (Jolie). Frank finds himself attracted to Elise's fun and outgoing personality, but it's not long before he discovers that this is by design and that she's using him as a distraction when an onslaught of people are suddenly trying to catch him.

Along with Depp and Jolie, the movie also stars Paul Bettany (A Beautiful Mind, A Knight's Tale), Rufus Sewell (Dark City, Pillars of the Earth), and Timothy Dalton (License to Kill, Hot Fuzz). The Tourist is directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who previously helmed The Lives of Others.

Paramount Developing Movie Based On Spike TV’s ‘Deadliest Warrior’

Posted: 15 Sep 2010 05:26 PM PDT

It's being reported that Paramount Pictures is officially developing a new movie with their sister station, Spike TV, based on the network's popular series, Deadliest Warrior. The studio has set Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy and his 21 Laps Entertainment to handle the project.

In the series, legendary historical warriors face off to see which of them is the best of the best. In the episode, groups of experts representing the two warriors bring many different weapons that were often used in battle, and then complete tests on dummies, pig carcasses, and complex ballistic bodies, complete with skeletal structures, internal organs, and blood. The tests, while often shockingly messy and violent, enable doctors and specialists to study precisely which of the weapons would prevail in a real battle, and then a sophisticated computer program runs one thousand simulated battles using the input they incorporate to determine who the winner would be.

Some of the more interesting battles that have been presented so far include Spartans vs. Ninjas, Samurais vs. Vikings, Mafia vs. Yakuza, KGB vs. CIA, and some one-on-one historical figure battles such as William Wallace vs. Shaka Zulu, Atilla the Hun vs. Alexander the Great, and Jesse James vs. Al Capone. Kevin James To Join The UFC In Untitled Mixed Martial Arts Movie

Posted: 15 Sep 2010 04:12 PM PDT

Sony Pictures has reached a new deal that will see King of Queens and Paul Blart: Mall Cop star Kevin James becoming a mixed martial arts fighter.

In the movie, James will play a physics teacher who decides to become an MMA fighter in an attempt to make some money and save the music program and his best friend's job at the school he works at, which has decided to make some major budget cuts. Before long, James' character finds himself fighting on the ultimate stage: the UFC.

Mixed Martial Arts has exploded into the spotlight over the last handful of years, and continues to grow at a rapid pace. Movies trying to take advantage of the sport's popularity have been made, such as Never Back Down and Red Belt, but no comedies (which is what this is assumed to be) yet. It even makes a lot of sense for James to be starring in the movie; the comedic talent has been a huge fan and supporter of the sport and the UFC for a long time now, and getting to play around in that sandbox should be an exciting prospect for him. DVD Review: After Dark Horrorfest IV – The Final

Posted: 15 Sep 2010 12:49 PM PDT

The Final
DVD
DIRECTOR: Joey Stewart
STARRING: Marc Donato, Jascha Washington, Whitney Hoy, Justin Arnold, Travis Tedford
Lionsgate Home Entertainment
RELEASE DATE: March 23, 2010

For four straight years now, After Dark Horrorfest: 8 Films to Die For has been unleashed. Eight original horror films to quench your thirst for blood and gore and screams galore. Last year I was able to check out and review their third collection of horrors (Read: DVD Review: After Dark Horrorfest III: 8 Films To Die For), and was rather excited to check out their new slate this year! Instead of cramming every review into one mammoth review, this year we'll take it one flick at a time, with this little opener stuck at the top of each one.

I watched quite a few of the Horrorfest lineup before getting to this point, and until now, I was rather impressed with this year's offerings. A few of the other titles were a little rocky and left me disappointed and wanting more, while a few others surpassed all expectation in a blast of pleasant surprise. But just like each year has a foreign film, it would appear that each year also has one movie that doesn't play to you at all. Not even the tiniest little bit. [...]

Who Needs Jaws? Korean Monster Flick ‘Chawz’ Brings On The Killer Pig

Posted: 15 Sep 2010 06:38 AM PDT

Magnet Releasing, a branch of Magnolia Pictures, has acquired the North American rights to the Korean monster movie titled Chawz. The movie comes from director Jeong-won Shin and will act as a sort of tribute to monster movies, telling the story of a vicious and mammoth wild boar that attacks tourists who are there looking to pick organic vegetables, forcing a group of people to set off on a mission to hunt and kill the beast. It is also said to show off some spectacularly gory special effects.

Tom Quinn, who acts as the Senior Vice President of Magnet, said of the acquisition "If Jaws was looking to branch out to dry land, without a doubt he'd want to be Chawz. Another worthy addition to the Korean monster hall of fame and the Magnet Releasing library."

Continue reading on to check out a preview of the movie that's not of the best quality, but gives you an idea of what we're dealing with here. [...]
