New ‘Elder Scrolls V’ Video “Behind The Wall: The Making Of Skyrim” Released

Skyrim Banner

In case you have not yet noticed, I have an unhealthy excitement for Bethesda Softworks' upcoming mega-title, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Something right along the same lines of this guy, if you need an example.

So any new glimpse of the game, which hits store shelves on 11/11/11, and I'm wide-eye and weepy over it.

Seeing as how there's only less than two short (or excruciatingly long) weeks to go, the final promotional videos are being released to the world. [...]

Watch Now: ‘American Pie 4′ Gets Red and Green Band Trailers

Posted: 01 Nov 2011 07:33 PM PDT

American Reunion

The ultra-teaser photobooth trailer released for American Pie 4 at the start of September didn't show off a whole lot of anything, but did act a nostalgia spark for fans of the (non-straight-to-video) series.

But now some real trailers for the movie, more officially titled American Reunion, have been released, and you can check them both out now by heading on below. Be warned: one of the trailers is the RED BAND, and can be considered NSFW. [...]

Watch Now: ‘The Evil Dead’ 30th Anniversary Dedication

Posted: 01 Nov 2011 06:48 PM PDT

Hard to believe that it's been three decades since The Evil Dead, the over-the-top classic of unrelenting terror that launched the careers of future geek gods Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, first chainsawed its way into the hearts and nightmares of moviegoers around the world. After all these years it remains one of the few authentically frightening films made in the wake of horror classics like The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Night of the Living Dead (three movies that were great influences on Raimi's film) that I have ever seen.

Continue reading to see a special Evil Dead 30th Anniversary dedication video. [...]

Heavy Metal Returns With ‘Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse’

Posted: 01 Nov 2011 06:12 PM PDT

Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

Prepare yourself for the coming Armageddon folks, because Kevin Eastman announced on Monday that he is bringing back Heavy Metal Magazine in December to bring us Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Originally slated as a video game for the 3DO, this project has been wrought with misfortune. As a game, the project never seemed to get of the ground after 3DO's collapse. There were some rumors and hints that the project was still alive. And with Eastman's help, Michael Mendheim and company, including would-be gamers, will finally see this project come to life. In the form of a comic book mini-series. [...]

Eli Roth’s ‘Cabin Fever’ To Get Two More Sequels

Posted: 01 Nov 2011 04:18 PM PDT

Cabin Fever

When Eli Roth's directorial debut Cabin Fever first hit theater screens back in September 2003 it had been riding a mighty wave of hype following several successful film festival showings.

Unfortunately that hype and the modest marketing muscle that a pre-Saw Lionsgate (back when they were Lions Gate) could muster couldn't translate to boffo box office for Roth's movie. Despite the failure of Cabin Fever to become a new blockbuster horror franchise the film managed to gross $30 million worldwide off a $1.5 million production budget and did even better on home video. [...]

John Romita’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man: Artist’s Edition’ Coming In December

Posted: 01 Nov 2011 03:00 PM PDT

Spider-Man Header

IDW Publishing has finally given us a time frame for the release of the oversized hardcover collecting John Romita, Sr.'s Amazing Spider-Man art in their Artist's Edition line. And that time is in December.

There are very few artists out there whose work on a single run of a comic book title defines both the character and the artist. John Romita is one of the few, and his work on Spider-Man is simply one of the very few on that character that was able to bring life to the comics from his art. He and Steve Ditko are arguably the two best artists to grace the pages of the book [...]

Blu-Ray Review: Green Lantern

Green Lantern Blu Ray

Green Lantern
Blu-ray Combo | Blu-ray | DVD
Directed by Martin Campbell
Starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, Tim Robbins, and Angela Bassett
Warner Bros Home Video
Release date: October 14, 2011

In the interest of full disclosure, let the record show the following: I am a HUGE fan of not only the Green Lantern mythology, but particularly of Hal Jordan. There is something about his character that has stuck with me through the years, and after it was announced, you couldn't get me to shut up about Green Lantern. Every time new casting announcements were made, or new footage was released, I would be glued to my iPhone/laptop. This was my most hotly anticipated film of the year by far, and while it may not have been all that it could have been, I really liked Green Lantern [...]

Xavier Gens’ ‘The Divide’ Hitting Theaters Unrated Thanks To Anchor Bay

Posted: 01 Nov 2011 01:00 PM PDT

Having been able to attend both the SXSW Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival this year, there have been many films to qualify as true-blue surprises in the eyes of this writer. Be it the brilliance of Aki Kaurismaki's Le Havre or the terror-induced by Insidious, it has been a relatively eventful year. However, one of the biggest surprises came from one of the film world's most maligned genre experts.

I got the chance to see Xavier Gens' (Hitman) latest film, The Divide at SXSW this year, and it quickly became one of my favorite genre pieces this year. And now, the world, thanks to Anchor Bay, will not only get to see this shockingly great, if intensely brooding, bit of apocalyptic filmmaking, but see in its original state [...]

Comic Review: Dark Shadows #1

Dark Shadows 1

Dark Shadows #1
Written by Stuart Manning
Script by Aaron Campbell
Colors by Carlos Lopez
Letters by Troy Peteri
Covers by Aaron Campbell, Francesco Francavilla
Dynamite Entertainment
Release Date: November 2nd, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99

I came into this comic fresh. I had heard of Dark Shadows before, but was not familiar with it, and had never seen the TV show or read any of the previous comics. After reading this, that might change.

Writer Stuart Manning does an incredible job introducing the world of Dark Shadows to the reader, yet still leaving PLENTY of mystery and intrigue to the imagination. I really felt like I was reading some old Tomb of Dracula issues. Very creepy atmosphere without crossing the line into full blown horror. Having the book set in 1971 is an interesting twist, as it never really plays into the story. In fact, you don't really even notice it. Not even in the fashions or hairdos. What you get is lots of great set up and a great shock ending that makes you really anxious for the next issue. Great story all around [...]

Matt Dillon and Naomi Watts Start Shooting ‘Sunlight Jr.’

Posted: 01 Nov 2011 11:00 AM PDT

The careers of Matt Dillon and Naomi Watts couldn't be more different. One, Watts, has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and the other, Dillon, is a relatively middling star, even on the indie front. However, the two appear to be converging on a brand new project.

Original Media has announced that the two have begun shooting on Sunlight Jr., a new indie film written and directed by Laurie Collyer [...]

Book Review: The Walking Dead Chronicles: The Official Companion Book

The Official Companion Book

The Walking Dead Chronicles: The Official Companion Book
Paperback
Written by Paul Ruditis
Abrams Books
Release date: October 1, 2011

The Walking Dead Chronicles: The Official Companion Book is, as the title would indicate, the official behind-the-scenes book for The Walking Dead. Almost every popular TV or movie (especially those based on comics or sci-fi properties) gets one of these. I'm sure you've seen these before. They're usually filled with interviews, pictures, and inside information about the production of whatever property the book is talking about. This one is no different, and will be a book worth buying if you really like The Walking Dead, but won't be of much interest to non-fans [...]
