Eddie Murphy out as host of the 2012 Oscars

Actor Eddie Murphy, who was tapped to host the 84th Annual Academy Awards next year, has quit after Brett Ratner resigned as producer for the event over the gay remark he made while promoting his movie "Tower Heist".

Murphy said in a statement, "First and foremost I want to say that I completely understand and support each party's decision with regard to a change of producers for this year's Academy Awards ceremony. I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I'm sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job."

Tom Sherak understands Murphy's decision, "I appreciate how Eddie feels about losing his creative partner, Brett Ratner, and we all wish him well."

Brett is the one who chose Eddie Murphy to host 2012 Academy Awards. Brett made inappropriate remarks for saying "rehearsal is for fags" plus making false story about having sex "few times" with actress Olivia Munn in which he later on apologized and admitted that he lied about the story.
