Riddick

It's being reported that Katee Sackhoff, star of the great Ronald D. Moore and David Eick Battlestar Galactica revival, is in final negotiations to join Vin Diesel on the cast of the Chronicles of Riddick sequel, which is yet to be titled.

Last we heard about the sequel was that production had been shut down due to lack of funds back in November, but now everything seems to be back on track and production has resumed. [...]

You remember those big splash balloons in Marvel Comics that used to shout "BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT!"? Well, I was the one who demanded a brand new Scarlet Spider #1, and you're all going to thank me for it when you finish reading it.

Wizards of the Coast Announces Fifth Edition Of ‘Dungeons & Dragons’

Posted: 10 Jan 2012 04:16 PM PST

Dungeons and Dragons

Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast announced on Monday that they are hard at work on a new edition of the venerable Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. This will be the fifth major edition of the game since it was originally released in 1974 and comes only four years after the release of the fourth edition rule set.

The news was first broke in the New York Times with a follow up announcement coming directly from Wizards of the Coast later in the day. Part of what makes the announcement so exciting (or maybe frightening) is that Wizards will be calling on fans to help with the playtesting of the new edition and will be taking player suggestions into account when creating the new system [...]

Watch Now: ‘Raiders of the Lost Archives’ Explores the Origins of Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones

It's no surprise that the Indiana Jones movies borrow liberally from the smashing pulp adventures of the past; after all, George Lucas did co-create the character. StooTV, the creator of the web series The Old Indiana Jones Chronicles, has created Raiders of the Lost Archives, a fascinating video that breaks down the opening sequence of the iconic, globe-trotting archaeologist and adventurer's inaugural (and still best) silver screen opus Raiders of the Lost Ark into a shot-by-shot comparison to scenes from thirty different adventure films made between 1919 to 1973.

You can watch the entire 13-minute here below [...]

Release Date: January 11, 2012

There seems to be a formula that has to be followed in order to write a great noir comic. Mike Mignola and John Arcudi have figured out that formula in the latest installment of Lobster Johnson.

Lobster Johnson: The Burning Hand #1 introduces us to a Prohibition-era New York filled with murder, mystery, and the supernatural. Do not expect to find pages filled with guns blazing and swinging fists in Lobster Johnson #1. This issue is dedicated to story building, but successfully builds anticipation for future issues [...]

Watch Now: ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ Opening Credits Sequence

Posted: 10 Jan 2012 10:18 AM PST

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The jury was out for a whole as to whether David Fincher's Americanized take on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (read my review here) would be successful enough to warrant sequels on the second and third books in Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy; in its third week of release the movie had yet to make back its reported $90 million budget, and then there's the small matter of the cost of its expansive marketing campaign. But Sony did greenlight the sequels this week, though no word yet if the director or the stores will return [...]

Watch Now: Randy “Macho Man” Savage As A Dragon In ‘Skyrim’

Posted: 10 Jan 2012 08:01 AM PST

Skyrim Dragon

Yes, that headline is 100% accurate. No need to adjust your screens or whatever it is you kids do these days.

Why YouTube mad scientist FancyPants has made this or the logic behind morphing the late wrestling legend Randy "Macho Man" Savage into a dragon in the hit Bethesda Softworks game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, is completely unknown. All that is known is that it has happened, and that it's here now for the world to see. [...]
