PLUS Model Magazine: “Most runway models meet the BMI physical criteria for Anorexia” Posted: 12 Jan 2012 05:00 PM PST Tweet    PLUS Model is a magazine dedicated to plus-size fashion that also militates for variety and beauty (and body) diversity in the modelling world - in the January 2012 issue, the magazine published a controversial piece that reveals a variety of statistics on beauty image in the fashion world and featured size 12 US model Katya Zharkova in a cloth-less spread: - Twenty years ago the average fashion model weighed 8% less than the average woman. Today, she weighs 23% less.  - Ten years ago plus-size models averaged between size 12 and 18. Today the need for size diversity within the plus-size modeling industry continues to be questioned. The majority of plus-size models on agency boards are between a size 6 and 14, while the customers continue to express their dissatisfaction.  - Most runway models meet the Body Mass Index physical criteria for Anorexia.  - 50% of women wear a size 14 or larger, but most standard clothing outlets cater to sizes 14 or smaller. If we continue to ignore and rely on others to decide what we want to see,  change will never happen. We have to be vocal and proactive, patient and realistic. How do you feel about all these? Did Cameron Diaz Get a ‘Busty Makeover’? Posted: 12 Jan 2012 11:18 AM PST Tweet Cameron Diaz has always been the owner of an athletic, lean figure – a few days ago, she was spotted while wearing a bikini in Hawaii and various sources say that the actress enhanced her bust via plastic surgery. Here’s what Radar says: There were rampant rumors last year that ex-boyfriend Alex Rodriguez wanted Cameron Diaz to get breast implants, and now that she's a single girl again, it seems she's taken the plunge on her own terms! When Cameron, 39, hit the beach in Hawaii earlier this month, it wasn't a new man on her arm that caught everyone's eye but her suddenly voluptuous figure, and RadarOnline.com has photos of her bustier look. The Charlie's Angels star, who is famous for being firmly flat chested, was suddenly overflowing from her bikini as she basked in the sun and sauntered along the Pacific. Plastic surgeon Dr. Marcel Daniels of Long Beach, California (who has not treated the star) thinks that Diaz has gone under the knife to boost her bust, as her new look is due to more than just weight gain from holiday indulgences. "In my opinion, she has had an augmentation and not just gained weight as she is as thin as ever," Dr. Daniels told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview. While many stars go over the top when they get a boob job, the surgeon credited Cameron for her subtlety, having gone, he estimates, from a tiny A to a modest C cup. "I think that by going for proportionally sized implants she has succeeded in making people wonder if they are real or real expensive…the hall mark of a job well done!" he said. Spoof Commercial ‘Fotoshop by Adobé’ Posted: 12 Jan 2012 07:43 AM PST Tweet Filmmaker Jesse Rosten launched a few days ago a spoof commercial called ‘Fotoshop by Adobe’ in order to highlight the extensive use of Photoshop in today’s magazines and promotional campaigns. The video presents a few of Photoshop’s most used tools and effects, such as Liquifiying (as in making on skinnier, elongating and narrowing their figure), Brightening (of the eyes, skin and teeth) and Healing (of skin imperfections). And the tagline of the video says it all very well: ‘this commercial isn’t real and neither are society’s standards of beauty’. Watch it and share your thoughts!
